Default DHL - Anyone ever pick up Items at Facility?

This will be my first post seeking advisement, I apologize and please direct me if this question has been answered in the past. (Tried my best to search the forum with no luck)

I've imported items before utlizing the feature "signature on door" to leave items with no problems, however, they were directed to an address in which I had access to with phakticious name. I will be out of town on an emergency trip in the next few days and expect a shipment to arrive while I'm gone. I do not have anyone in proximity to assist me.

Instead of being paranoid with my packages being stolen, has anyone ever, or if there is a way to pick up the packages at the DHL Facility without having proper identification?

Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks in advance!

Yes it is possible for them to hold it at the local facility but you may be asked for ID

If your name does not match your ID, package is gone.

That goes for all couriers. How would this even be possible? I could just pick up anybody's sh!t with random names. Use your brain.

Those private contract DHL couriers are not the brightest around. They can see a sign on the door, "leave at door front" and they will. Fedex never does it, UPS sometimes, but DHL always does it when I have left a sign like that on my door.

maybe get the nearest person you know to the area of the package to pick up the package with the right amount of $$$$ that you can trust.

DHL are the biggest bunch of morons around.

If it wasnt for my supplier, id use another service.

The only company I know that wont bring a package because 'the name on the doorbell was off by a letter'....

Even though the suite number is on said package.. Because apparently, only one person is allowed to live in a house with the same name all over the world...

You have to understand how DHL works, they dont "operate" within the US, they use 3rd party companies to deliver everything within the US. So their training program will not be as good has other delivery companies.

Play it cool. Give them a call ahead of time using the phone number listed on your package. Tell them you are out of town and they should hold package until you return.

When you return, call them that you are back and just checking if package was held for pickup.

When you go there, and tell them you just called, you may not be asked for an ID.

Call ahead and speak to the station manager....tell him that you are out of the country, but will be sending an employee over to collect. Tell the manager that you'll happily fax the local station a Letter of Authorization, (signed by the phakticious name), stating that you hereby authorize DHL to release the package to the possession of ________ (your actual name) and in distributing the package to _______ will absolve DHL from any further responsibility & liability.

You can pick it up yourself with ID or you can send an email telling them who will be picking it up, who will also need to have ID. No way around ID when picking up.
