Default post office is to expensive help me im stuck

I bought 20 mobile phone holder from hong kong with free postage
for £29.80= £2.98 each

I sell on ebay for £5.75 to compete with uk sellers
ebay fees are 57p FVF
insertion fee is 35p
paypal fees is £40p
2nd class signed is £3.80 or
2nd class parcel is £2.70
2nd class large letter is £1.17 item is to big

it seems royal mail is getting most of the profit and Hong kong post is cheap as chips its free

all comes to £8.10 so loss is - £2.35
if I send at second class parcel its still minus £1.25
sending at large letter is £1.17 but holder is to big
to break even I have to sell the item for £7.00
don't get it what am i doing wrong?

Don't send signed for. It's worthless, have you tried claiming with Royal Mail.

How much is just second class £2.80?

Anything under £20 I send normal post. If an item goes missing I've save money on not sending recorded so it easily covers it.

25mm is 2.5 centimeters that's small
the holder is 6.5cm wide x 17cm x 7cm

My friend works for Royal Mail he always says send it special delivery or just send it normal post.
The recorded delivery stickers have a way of getting detached from the item. Like when the postman rips them off.

Does no one use franking machines? I rent through Pitney Bowes at 7 quid a month. The speed of adding postage is great and its 2.25 for a small package, 5th for a large second class letter!

PPI is a lot better than franking. Ink is a lot cheaper and no need to pay to rent a machine.

Thanks although I still feel i will pay less with franking for the reason that I say on eBay it's 1st class but send it as franked second. It gets there next day anyway so must be because it's franked. Ink is cheap if you buy unofficial.

Also big discount if you use drop & go with the post office.
You get a prepaid card that you give them to do it.

The items I sell are the size and weight of a tennis ball

You know how much Canada Post charges for tracking overseas? $49. No signature option or insurance allowed, though. Takes 7 business days.

Tracking with signature and [optional] insurance? $76. 4-5 business days.

Canada Post.

I tend to take a chance and use a $20 option with no tracking, and buy 3rd party insurance. Takes 6-10 business days.

That is too expensive! I wish there are more examples like Hong Kong Post! Prices increased to sky!

Your maths are wrong.

20 items / £29.80 = £1.49

Sell £5.75
ebay fees are 57p FVF
insertion fee is 35p
paypal fees is £40p
2nd class signed is £3.80
2nd class parcel is £2.70

£1.49+
57p
35p
40p
£2.70 (dont bother recorded) =
£5.51 so you make 24p on them

Unless you sell hundreds don't bother, find something else to sell. Or sell them as a set of two as someone said. The people who selling these for £5.75 are getting these much cheaper than £1.49 each as they buy in bulk.

Everyone seems to sell mobile phone accessories, maybe look into a different field.
