In the past six months I have had two packages that were lost or the buyer scammed me because USPS did not update the shipping. Which really hurts me on eBay when they open a case. I put two packages last night into the box at USPS and so far the tracking has not been updated. I am worried that its going to happen again. Is there anything I can do?
The complete step-by-step guide to get back to selling today!
That is good to know. So does that mean if I have someone buy something on Thursday I can wait till Monday to ship it without any problems?
If your goal is to get a 1 or 2 stars for Shipping Time, then sure...wait an entire week while your at it!
Have you specified what your handling time is in your listings?
Best thing to do is print out the shipping label within 1 business day of payment and ship item out within that same business day or next business day. This way, you are staying within a reasonable handling time.
I'm sure your buyers are paying you within a short time frame, why not do the same courtesy and ship out quickly?

Yea eBay has a really screwed up estimator for shipping and sometimes no matter what the handling time is it will say that it will be delivered within 4 days
They give no lead way, and now with the new metrics, it's not good enough to just print them out but it has to show in the tracking system that it has updated within the handling time
So if u have TRS account and need 1 day handling time , than they do not factor in that it takes 24 hours to upload in USPS system so basically u need to ship same day to make it count as one day
This has happened to me on one account and drove me nutts
Now I just make a couple accounts a day and list on a different account everyday and move on the next day to a different account
To add to what DMshark said, also understand that fast shipping is a HUGE factor in your success or failure when selling online. Fast shipping eliminates a lot of inquiries, opened cases, 1 and 2 star DSR's and other problems. Always ship the same day or the next day, if you can. Buyers tend to be impatient and even holding a package for a couple of days can set some buyers off.
Out of all the things that can go wrong for us, shipping quickly is ONE THING that we CAN CONTROL. Why make it an issue?
In addition to the two posts above, if you ship fast, most buyers will jump with joy and leave a feedback. If issues arise later, they will handle the issue with lots of respect. Bottom line, a positive feedback still counts.
