Default Paypal spending limit message when trying to pay for a won item - Help!

Hi All

Have just a very strange thing just happen.

(I only have a buying account – never been used for selling)

I bid on an item and could see from my ebay ID in the bidder list that I won it – it is £67. I then went to look at the won item a few hours later and noticed that my ebay ID was no longer there and looked as if I had not one it.

I then logged into gmail account and it stated that I had won it and I needed to pay for it. No other messages from ebay or paypal.

I logged into my ebay account and noticed that I had an item in my Basket, which was the item I won a few hours earlier. This is strange as items I win do not normally go into my Basket, but usually just show up in the Bell messages drop down stating that I needed to pay. I logged into paypal in the normal way through ebay, then clicked on the payment button and received a very worrying message from paypal:

“You have reached your spending limit, please register a bank account”

I tried again just in case it was a glitch and this time when logging into paypal from within ebay in the normal way, it then redirected me to the main paypal login screen, which it has never done before. I logged into paypal and received a weird error message in red that some kind of error had occurred – sorry forgot to write this one down.

I have over £400 in my Intropay account, so what is this paypal spending limit message all about?? Every thing has been working fine for over 8 months and now this weird paypal message.

I’m hoping this is a paypal glitch and will try again tomorrow, otherwise I’m very worried this could be the end of my stealth account.

Very worried...

Just went back into the finished listing that I had won earlier today and low an behold, my ebay ID is back in the bidders list again and shown as the winning bidder....
  1. I was the winner with my ebay ID clearly listed as the winner,
  2. then my ebay ID disappeared (also noticed different bidders listed),
  3. then my ebay ID is back again showing me as the winner...

What on earth is going on?

Im worried that I need to pay for this won item and hope that paypal will now behave itself tomorrow when I try again to pay for the won item.

If paypal continues to block me from paying, do you know if I can use my Entropay CC to pay where ebay gives you the option to pay by Credit Card instead of paypal??? Or is this a risk to do this??

At the end of the day I need to pay for this won item and getting a bank account setup in time would be impossible. I don't want to get an ebay black mark against me as a non-payer.

Sorry me again:

Just received this email from paypal:

I had no idea that paypal imposes a 'sending' limit? Is this a total value of what I have sent using paypal from my Entropay CC from day one?

If this is the case how am I going to pay for my won item? Can I use the ebay Credit Card option to pay using my Entropay CC as it is a Visa card??

Dear xxxx xxxx,

Unfortunately, you've reached your PayPal sending limit of £2,117.06 GBP. As a result your recent payment has been declined.

All PayPal users have a sending limit. This is the maximum amount of money you can send or use for purchases before you need to become verified.
Why do I need to verify my account?

When you join PayPal, we ask for only basic details so you can start using your account right away. However, we're legally required to confirm certain information about customers who send payments over a certain amount. Once you link and confirm a bank account or get approved for PayPal credit, your account will be Verified and you'll be able to make as many payments as you like with PayPal.

How do I get verified and lift my sending limit?

1. Log in to your PayPal account at www.paypal.co.uk
2. Click Get Verified at the top of the page and follow the instructions to link your card to your PayPal account. We'll charge this card no more than £2.00 GBP to make sure it's yours.
3. In 2-3 days, check your bank statement (or card statement) for a charge from "PayPal" with a 4-digit code next to it or the 2 charges from PayPal.
4. Log in to your PayPal account and click Confirm your card.
5. Enter the 4-digit code or the 2 amounts to confirm your card.

You haven't confirmed the vcc linked to the account
Go to wallet and click " Confirm Card "
After an hour or so the 4 digit code will show up in your entropay account under pending purchases

Stand down all is well again, panic over…

I should have re-consulted the fantastic ‘stealth guide’ before panicking – silly me…

I didn’t quite realise how safe and quick it is to Verify your stealth paypal with a real bank account. Once I read in the guide that stated (Paypal cannot see the bank account name or any other details of your bank account) I was confident to go through the verification process using a natwest savings account that has never been used for paypal.

From entering my bank details into paypal, to receiving the 4 digit code into by bank account and then finally entering this code into paypal, I was back up and running in less than 5 minutes!

3 cheers to the stealth guide – worth every penny! And to all the good folks here on this invaluable forum as well!
