Activity: 0% Longevity: 42% | | Unauthorized use of your account - Dormant eBay Accounts - HELP!
Hey Everyone,
Hope y'all are doing good.
I have a very big problem here. I have a bunch of eBay accounts that are old and have a higher selling limit. Most of them are dormant and have activities such as buying/selling 2-3 months ago.
Every time I try to list an item on one of these accounts. eBay locks me out and mentions "Unauthorized use of your account - action required/please contact us"
Any new changes made towards the account are reset back to the previous and it asks me to reset the password. Once I do it, I again try to list an item. Again it locks me out and on the second time, it asks to contact the customer care.
Sometimes they even suspend the account. However, when I call and verify, it gets reinstated BUT when I list the item again it gives me the same problem.
When I contact the customer care, they ask few security questions like the date of birth etc.. and call back on the number that is currently associated with the eBay account.
I have even tried to get a hold of the senior rep. requesting him/her to resolve this problem once and for all. I get told that the system triggers this security block and there is nothing we can do about it.
Although I get the account reinstated as I have all the original info. I try to list the item again and it again locks me out, popping up the same message " unauthorized use of your account".
This seems to be a never-ending loop.
Can someone advise on what am I doing wrong?
The safety measures that I take :
1. Use Inkfrog and link the account on the existing IP that it had been previously used on. Therefore, no new IP is introduced to the account.
2. All the accounts are registered to different individuals which means all details are different - name, address, phone.
I would be really grateful if anyone could help.
Thanks in advance!

so you don't remember any info like address and birthdate ? this info is essential for them to verify your account.

may be just ask ebay to refresh/reset your ebay account, that might help.

I assume you are separating your accounts and using clean IP's? Are you accessing these accounts from the same machine?

Their customer support isnt willing to help. They simply say its the bot that triggers this and we can not do anything about it. Quote:

As stated, all accounts are connected via inkfrog. The listings are made via Inkfrog. The inkfrog authentication token generated is on the existing computer that the accounts have been previously used on. No other IP is introduced.

I was stuck on this same loop on one of my accounts. No idea what triggered it but I ended up just abandoning the account.

I suspect something might have linked these accounts given the behaviors you describe. I generally don't use third party tools such as Inkfrog (or anything that does API calls) for this very reason. Other users on this forum have expressed the same concerns before.

At first, I thought, this could be because the account is being used on a very Fresh IP. But nope, I was wrong. For the same reason, I started using Inkfrog at a very later stage.
For obvious reasons, the account owner won't allow me to list the item on his computer.
None of these accounts follow the same pattern. The PayPal linked into the listings are different every time. No stealth PayPal but all real accounts of my real friends.
Some of them work after calling the customer services but ends in the same situation down the line. Say in a week or so. Quote:

Can you think of any commonalities these accounts may have with each other than sitting dormant for a period of time?

All accounts are registered under a different name, phone number, address.
Different states, different cities, different automatic billing/existing account holder's PayPal in automatic billing.
Even tried both UK and USA. No luck at all.

Not sure how to pass it.

Whenever a listing is created it is created via inkfrog. This makes the eBay system assume the listing has been created on the account holder's PC.

In any event, ebay are nearly always going to re-verify long standing dormant accounts before allowing you to sell on it again and even then they will have their bots monitoring it/them for unusual activity.
