Default When a buyer makes a return for ''doesnt fit''

So I have free shipping on all my listings, when a buyer makes a return due to ''doesnt fit'' and all sizes are shown in the listing. Who pays for the return shipping? It used to be the buyer, is this still the case? Also, how can a seller get their money back for the original shipping cost? or is that just a ''cost of doing business'' reality

It depends how you have your return preferences setup. On my accounts any "doesn't fit" return is one where the buyer pays shipping. But if you offer free returns across the board then you would be obligated to pay for it.

On my listings, I have the box checked, buyer pays return. As far as the option of refunding a certain amount. If this is done, can the buyer have ebay step in to get the original shipping cost back, or does ebay pay for that in that case, as its a ''eBay Money Back Guarantee''

Too bad they dont have that option for ebay UK, maybe in the future it will change, prob not though. My average shipping cost is about £4.00 , I know it doesnt sound alot. But when a buyer makes a mistake in their size and you have done everything right, I think sellers should have the choice to not refund the outbound shipping cost.

lol,I dont think its a violation of UK law, it would be a violation of ebay policy if anything

There’s a guy on the other thread that’s been a member for 6 years (amazing, I know). He’ll be able to answer any queries you have as long as you don’t mind them being in bold block capitals with the odd typo when the genitals dangling from his forehead impeded his keystrokes.

Of course it is, that's why ebay have to enforce it.
thats right, its ebay who are in a position of responsibility. Thats why they ban sellers.

anyway, Its not fair for the sellers. Especially those where the shipping is like £10.00 +

I already have a buyer pulling that stunt, I told him/her to send me photos. They are hinting they want a slight discount even though they know there is nothing wrong with the item, pure BS

I am in US,recently buyer said he wants to return an item,(he did not open a case),he paid for return shipping and I refund just the item cost,no orignal shipping.
you wont know until he returns the item ,see if you can just refund item cost only

Yep, I have done that a few times. Some buyers are reasonable, some are not. In my case 95% are fine.

what I meant to say is on the return screen, the original shipping cost is blank,so all I need to do is refund the item cost, thats nice of Ebay to offer such.
