Default New Yorkers may have to pay 3$ surcharge on online deliveries!!

Robert Carroll proposed slapping a 3$ surcharge on online deliveries to help cover the cost of buses and subways in New York.

Do you think this could become a reality or is this just cheap talking?

What I find to be weird is that the exact same proposal has been made in Germany by a couple members of parlament. They are literally stating that they want to incentivise people to shop in brick-and-mortar stores by adding this new tax on online sales!! This blatant act of insanity is making me speechless in the face of unparalleled stupidity.

Sellers who sell items such as books for 2-3$ could have their businesses go bust should such proposals turn into laws.

So they want to surpress 1 thing so that that old 1 thing is back in business...
Simply because they can't come up with a solution.

Either I'm short sighted or they are. I 'd be pissed if they do that

not surprised, politicians love to find any way to raise taxes, regardless of how it effects others

Pandemic so not many people using buses and subways = good profit for government charging the $3

1+1=2

Either you are FirstorLast as they say.... personally, I learn from the government.... good money in it

Thanks government for teaching us the ways
