Hello,
I would like to sell my business with an ebay account that is more than 15 years old and has over 4000 feedback.
As you are experts here with account buying and selling, how does it work to sell an account to someone (or sell the whole business to them)? I mean ebay does not allow to sell accounts or change ownership of accounts. Is there any way to transfer this account to someone else?

The folks on the eBay community forums say that only business accounts can change hands. But someone else in another post says they don't allow accounts to change ownership at all.
Aspkin only allows authorized sellers to sell accounts here, just so you're aware. And there's a high chance of someone trying to finesse/scam you out of your account through PM's since you've announced you have one to sell. Those points aside, if you do find somewhere you can sell your account and someone to sell it to, the safe way to transfer ownership would be to do like the account sellers here do. Transfer all of your account related browser cookies and ideally the IP address you've been using to the new owner. It's not a huge deal if the IP address changes.. as long as browser cookies are kept in tact.
Good luck!

Thanks for the info.
I have talked with ebay support and they told me that even if I form a LLC and the account is owned by the LLC, they will not allow to change ownership.
Can you give me more information regarding transferring the browser cookies? Is the procedure anywhere written, maybe in the eBay Stealth ebook? Does that mean that all account details will remain unchanged and the new owner will be able to continue to use this account with the browser cookies? Ideally I want to sell the whole business (which is generating monthly profit), so that the buyer receives the ebay account, all systems, assets etc. Just that I'm not sure how to transfer the ebay account to the buyer.

Yeah, 0 chance egay will allow above board transfer. It will have to be done stealthily if you attempt it.

Hm, there are businesses which are sold that have amazon, ebay, shopify as accounts which are all sold as part of the business, like here: https://flippa.com/search?query%5Bkeyword%5D=ebay
I wonder how they do sell all those businesses to new owners if the ebay account itself can't get transferred...

you could surely sell it privately but your personal details would need to remain unchanged so that it may pose a risk to you in the future

are you selling your ebay account with 4000 feedbacks or are you selling your inventory as well?
You can just sell your inventory with your pictures without selling your account,I dunno if an account with 4000 really make much difference on Ebay?
keep your account, you never know you may need it some day
When I see a seller with 4000 feedback or 10,000 feedback,I figure that person sells a lot of low priced items,he/she may not even have the inventory and how many negs do you have?
I'm selling the whole business. That means the inventory, products, systems, employees, etc. I sell the products on Ebay and Amazon. I have 99% positive feedback. The buyer could create this own account and list the items, but I would prefer selling the whole business "as is". On my ebay account, there are many products which say for example "100 sold" and the listings have some ranking, so I think it has some value for the buyer.
--------
You just want him to start selling under your ID with your feedback ,inventory but change the MP account number and any documents Ebay would ask, depending on his country?
What about Your German tax office,do they expect you to keep reporting your sales activities on both Ebay and AMZN?Do they believe your story that all of a sudden, you are now a Polish or Czechoslovakian?
ask a local lawyer
is the potential buyer an individual or a company?
You said you have employees, what will happen to them?
Does German govt has anything to say?
Is the $$ gain worth the troubles?
Is it weird?
I compare the time and money trying to find out if selling Ebay account instead of just the stock, how much more can you get?
if it is not a large amount, why bother?
On Ebay, buyers do read feedback and rating, but more important is the asking price, someone will always try to beat your price.
As for employees,I was thinking of one company taking over another company, what does it do with the employees with their pension and benefits, but I guess in your case,it does not apply

How could I sell it privately? When my personal details remain unchanged, how can the new buyer work with the account, so that it does not get suspended?

I will probably need to upgrade to a LLC structure, change the ebay account to this LLC, and then sell the whole entity. Any other ideas?
