Activity: 0% Longevity: 68% | | Randomly had old account reinstated
So, this week I received an email from an old ebay account using real details, that had been previously suspended.
Here is the email -
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
We are pleased to announce that your eBay seller account has been reinstated, and you are once again welcome to list and sell on our platform. In our ongoing efforts to maintain industry standards, we have recently updated our selling policies. These changes are designed to better support our seller community and enhance the overall selling experience.
What’s Changed? Our revised policies aim to foster a fair and supportive environment, allowing you to grow and succeed without compromising the safety and trust of our community.
What This Means for You:
Immediate Account Reinstatement: Your account is now active, and you can start listing items immediately.
Get Started Again: To begin selling, simply log in to your eBay account.
We are offering dedicated support for any questions or assistance you might need as you resume selling. A member of the team will call you over the coming days to answer any questions you may have and to help you return to selling!
We look forward to speaking with you soon.
Happy selling!
Warm regards,

Very strange, it's actually the first time I have seen a permanently suspended account get reinstated.
I contacted support and asked for more clarity about why it was originally suspended.
They said - Your account was previously permanently suspended for explosive growth, and that suspension has been lifted under a Global Trust Initiative.
Explosive growth
Anyway, at least I have another account in my real details for future use if needed.

Interesting - while nice to be reinstated...the possibility for suspension could arise again - I wouldn't trust eb enough to just rely on this account thinking it's golden - but that's my thoughts anyhow

It does seem like they're rolling out a new policy and reinstating some previously suspended accounts.

I guess it failed their risk assessment at the time, even though there were no complains or defects.

that is perverted ebay logic , reinstating old suspended accounts to increase turnover and mass suspend new accounts to reduce turnover
I guess this would be the logic Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde

----she did not do anything, wrong, just listing/selling too fast and too many.
Not every suspended account will get reinstated .

I think it's a poor policy on eBay’s part that sellers are expected to start with slow sales. Amazon, by contrast, doesn't penalise rapid growth — they actually encourage it.

Ebay is a flea market,so there are more amateur /part time sellers selling his own stock or worse have no stock at all,and used ,parts only ,worn, dirty, knockoffs all are welcome.
A different platform

Those members haven't said anything else since they started using the accounts, so I'm pretty sure they are still active.

Wow, that's interesting. I understand why eBay would suspend accounts that are fast growing due to risk, but usually its a combination of factors users here don't mention. Like as you grow, you're receiving frequent INRC, or return requests. That is a bad combination.
Even with my business, I turn down money if I think there is risk. Not all money is good money.

Can you cancel orders on Ebay?
I know you can do so,but too many cancellations tick off EBAY,also I think Ebay would still charge a fee if seller cancels an order.

It is more of an intuition.
During the holidays I had someone who spent over $2000+ on goods. Sometime in January he opened an INRC for a package bought in Oct, and did so because tracking didn't show "delivered". We both know it was indeed delivered, USPS just didn't scan it. He bought from me 5 other times after this as well. Never mentioned a package missing. So I messaged him and politely asked him not to buy from my shop again. I could not risk him potentionally doing this again when I know claims like his on an account with less than 6 months of selling activity is high risk.
One bad customer who buys from you frequently that decides to open claims can ruin your account depending on volume. Sudden spikes of claims by one customer then normal infrequent claims for others add a toxic combination.
Anyone that has their own website probably knows how important turning down money is because chargebacks = no protection & costly. So if you have high risk orders flagged by Stripe (risk score 80+), thats an easy cancellation.
