Activity: 4% Longevity: 42% | | MC999 suspension without warning !
Hi everyone,
My eBay account recently received an MC999 suspension without warning after almost 2 years of normal activity. I never had disputes, chargebacks, policy violations, high-risk orders, VPN usage, or unusual login activity. I also didn’t change devices or locations recently.
The email only mentioned “serious concerns” but gave no exact reason. I believe this may have been triggered incorrectly by an automated review system.
Has anyone experienced an MC999 like this and successfully recovered their account? Any advice would really help. Thanks.

I still had until 11th May to accept or decline the cancellation request, but before I could respond, my account was suddenly hit with an MC999 suspension.

Ebay and brand names are known to buy from sellers and take a close look at what it bought,it could close your account if it turns out to be counterfeit.
They do not complain to you, file INAD or leave feedback/
Some prominent brand names are quite active on Ebay

Broken or not, sadly, the brand name selling may/could have led to an uncontrollable issue on the account...

Do the same thing with a dozen accounts from now on. Never rely on a single account.
eBay really seem to have no idea on how to properly handle risky sellers nowadays. They just throw MCs left and right and you're left to gamble if they will re-instate your account or not.
P.S. I'm not just saying this because of an obvious interest of mine, it's just how it is nowadays ...

That is incredibly frustrating, but do not panic just yet. What you are experiencing is possibly an automated bot crossfire situation. It is highly unlikely that you actually did anything wrong to trigger this MC999.
It’s about the Buyer, not you.
The sequence you described, accepting an offer, the buyer paying immediately, and then almost instantly requesting a cancellation, is a massive red flag for eBay’s security bots. This is a very common pattern for scammers testing stolen credit cards or using a hijacked buyer account.
When the real owner of the credit card (or the real owner of the hijacked eBay account) reports the fraud, or when eBay's bots detect the stolen card, eBay immediately steps in. They freeze the buyer's account, and because money has just changed hands, their system automatically slaps a security hold on the transaction and anyone connected to it.
Because you sell in the mobile phone category (which is considered extremely "high-risk" for fraud, even for broken/parts phones), the automated system didn't just cancel the order; it threw an MC999 suspension on your account as a blunt-force security measure to lock everything down and stop any funds from moving. It’s guilty by association by a bot.
What I suggest you need to do right now:
First, do not try to open a new account to get around this. An MC999 is a severe restriction, and trying to bypass it will turn a temporary bot mistake into a permanent lifetime ban.
Second, you cannot resolve an MC999 via email or automated chat. You need to speak to a human who has the authority to look at the timeline of events.
Go to the "Help & Contact" section on eBay.
Scroll to the bottom and keep selecting "Account restrictions and suspensions" type "chat to an agent" until you get the option to "Have us call you".
When you get the rep on the phone, do not get angry, just clearly lay out the timeline: "I am calling about my MC999 restriction. I have been selling here for 2 years with no issues. A buyer bought item [item number], paid, and immediately requested a cancellation. Before I could even accept their cancellation, my account was restricted. I believe the buyer's account may have been compromised or flagged, and my account was caught in the automated security freeze."
Once a human Trust & Safety rep looks at the timestamps and sees that you were just a passive seller caught up in a fraudulent buyer's cancellation attempt, if you haven't had and policy violations before they might lift this type of MC999.
Let us know how it goes. If it fails you can use rsots service provider.

In my case, yep it did fix it on many occasions, only time they rejected was due to prior repeated policy violations. If you know you know | | The Following User Says Thank You to Nimble For This Useful Post:

Anyone with enough experience will tell you straight up:
You can not re-instate an MC999 account.
Just forget it, move on to the next one.
Now, if it were an MC011 with your listings kept live, then you have a 50/50 chance after you've provided them the requested documentation. (And the outcome will depend if the representative are on their period or not )
Hate to be the bad news radio, but that account is done.
