How to safely receive payment without having shipment occur

So someone wants to buy my laptop, he's local, says he's got the money ($1000) in his account. Says he doesn't have enough cash in hand to buy it. He wants to send the $1000 payment to my Paypal account and pick up the laptop in person. Is there any possible way to do this safely (safely for me, that is)?

Nope... don't do it!

It would only take a couple of days for him to withdraw the funds to his account then he could pay cash.

I guess if he is well established on Ebay you could take a chance but I wouldn't for that amount.
