Virgin ip address help uk

Hi am in the uk a have virgin i forgot to pay one of my bills when i was in hospital and they cut me of i phoned up and paid them over the phone and they put the internet back on for me but when i tried it my router was not working it only worked when i plug my laptop to the modem without the router i phoned virgin and they are sending me a new router i have read the book if i have my new ebay and paypal in a 2nd account name on the laptop but will i still need to get a new ip address if am getting a new router sorry to be a pain am finding the book easy to follow and very good its just the bit on getting a new ip am having problems with am 72 and when i went to school we did not use pc`s so it still a bit new to me but the book is very good it just the new ip bit am having problems with ][/b]

I think your virgin ip should be dynamic ie changing when you disconnect to another ip and so on..

double check this using ip buger, unplug phone socket and plug in again and see if its changed, it it hasnt, shut down whole pc and see again....

you will then know if you have a dynamic ip, and if you do, you will be ok to sign up for ebay paypal...

P.S Im about 40 years younger than you and I didnt do anything about ips etc at school, the internet didnt exist! The basics are all perfectly learnable, so dont fret!
