^^^JBuntz mentioned LSO's can leak between user accounts. Not so sure about that.
What do you think?

I think I was the one who spread this rumour about LSO, its what vic told me see thread below http://www.aspkin.com/forums/everyth...-who-love.html
I think this is the interesting part;
The local storage mechanism SPANS MULTIPLE WINDOWS and persists beyond the current session. The localStorage attribute provides persistent storage areas for domains. It allows Web applications to store nearly 10 MB of user data, such as entire documents or a user's mailbox, on the client for performance reasons.
Each domain and subdomain has its own separate local storage area. Domains can access the storage areas of subdomains, and subdomains can access the storage areas of parent domains

Multiple windows might mean browser windows but user account-wise, don't think it links them.

The point is you don't need flash installed on your computer to have an eb/pp account so if you believe they could be a problem then delete em if you don't believe they're a problem then don't delete em, simple as that.

If by comparison you open 2 Browser Windows, on 2 DIFFERENT Windows User Accounts and acess one Ebay account on Each Seperate User account the Lso's will be stored in DIFFERENT Folders 1 on EACH of the User accounts, Therefore your 2 Ebay Accounts will NOT Be Linked Together.
I Hope I cleared that up a bit More.

Well put Slapped - as I figured.
Amazon tracks much more intensely - nic, mac, computer Id and such. My way of avoiding is using different user accounts on an old laptop - disabling lan/wifi access and going dial-up. Yes there are better ways if you search the forum, you will find. I just happen to be in grunge mode.

Thing Is.
1. I need flash to watch my youtube and other flash sites.
2. I like deleting my history and cookies when I close FF.
So. Is it a good solution to just save the cookie from eBay by putting it on the allowed sites in the cookies list?

You don't even need to do that you just don't clear cookies, clearing flash with "better privacy" doesn't touch the regular cookies that keep your login info and browsing history. I watch videos on the main admistrator user. The only reason I clear flash is because the same flash player that was downloaded from my main user is being used on all the other user's which is why I said they could have the potental to leak, it's just a precaution based on my own reasoning, not a fact.

That's the thing. I don't want my browsing history and logins saved. I just want to keep the eBay cookie.

so would it be possible then to open up ebay in one user account, then without logging out, change the ip address and log into another account without them noticing? would the original account just freeze? or reconnect using the new ip, that would be very bad. what i am looking for here is to fool ebay into thinking two seperate members are logged on at the same time using different computers and thus not arousing suspicion.
also i only change ip in my account and not the actual user accounts i have set up, if i dont delete my cookies and flash surely ebay will notice this? then i log out of my account and into whichever corresponds with the ip. if i logged into the different account and then changed the ip address, surely they would pick up on the ip being different for a minute or so, and link the two? or do you actually have to be logged into ebay for their cookies to start working?
and i sometimes like to use a laptop connected through a wireless router, the laptop has no seperate user accounts on it, but i cclean and flash delete with every session, will they be able to detect that several users use the laptop?
and on a seperate note, a local shop with dedicated hobbyists/collectors shut down, so suddenly i have quite regular bidders from the same city as me, and sometimes they collect in person, whats to stop ebay deciding we are friends after a few meetings to exchange cash/goods? and suspending us both? surely its good to pretend to at least be friendly with your customers, and if ebay did such a thing then thats slapping the face of one of the basics of business?
i ahve become so paranoid since my suspension, i think i am addicted to ebay.
