Default full blast on a 10 year old account?

Ok heres the deal, my friend gave me an account that was opened in 2001. It has 40 feedback and all positive. He has sold some stuff ( about 8 items) price ranging from 200.00-1000.00 . All his info is real and it is not a stealth account.

Now my question is. He has not used the account for about 2 years. Can i list a lot of items on it or do i have to go slow. Keep in mind that he has sold 1000.00 items before and got positive feedback for it. And the account is real and is 10 years old plus. I don't want to mess it up so any advise would be greatly appreciated. thanks

You still definatly have to go SLOW.

Treat it was you would a new account.

You have a little gem there!

But why would i have to take it slow? All the info is there and if they ask for it my friend will fax them over whatever they need.

And what is slow? how many items per week?

its not an exact science it depends on what your selling really...obviously if its VERO items its a big nono.

If hes prepared to fax over info then thats a bonus.

BECAUSE ebay is just as narky about 10 year old accounts that suddenly spring into activity.

We used to call them 'grandfathered' as they were safe. That has radically changed. ebay & its bots will care less about the age.

Your premise that he can just fax over documents & be good to go is TOSH. Even old accounts are being damaged & suspended.
This account is going to need to increase its selling feedback. There is still a chance of ebay restricting it. As I do not know what items, I will give no advice to how slow to list. I would suggest you ensure you give great service & attempt to really look after buyers.

Yeah thats true. I just listed two items and it seems like its going to be ok. I'll take it slow. I'm selling auto parts so i don't know how critical that is as its not vero. Any idea on how many i can sell and how fast? Remember this is a legit account that has been opened for 10 years with items sold for more than 2000.00 so far on the account. Never had a problem he states and it is under his business account. Any info would be greatly appreciated. thanks

Like ive stated and GB has stated you cant say exactly how many items you can list at once, neither of us work for ebay.

However what we can tell you is to listen to our advice and GO SLOW if you want to have a lasting account and make money!

You start with 1 non-vero item, wait for it to sell then gradually increase from there using your own judgement. The new seller limits are 2k per month so probably good to stay within that limit for a while.

Ok so heres my plan. Please someone tell me if this is good or not.

I listed two items. I'm going to wait for atleast one of them to sell and then i'm going to list two more. The items that i'm selling are about 50.00-100.00 NON VERO items. They are auto parts. I'll give that a week and someone will probably buy it then i'm going to list maybe two more. So in 2 week i'll end up listing about 7 items and probably bring in about 500.00 or so. From there i'll just play the slow selling game till i get to about december or january of next year to start bumping it up to 50 items that are worth 10k.

How does that sound guys? I really really don't want to mess up this account its pretty much my last hope at e bay. I do have some accounts that i bought but never used because i was just too lazy. So anyways let me know. thanks

If your are fully verified with PayPal then your plan seems plausible. Although no matter how slow you go with such high price items ($100+), PayPal may limit your account after some sales for ID etc

If you are selling high price items then do not forget to add a tracking number to PayPal

In terms of eBay,

this may not be possible because of selling limits. Depends what they are though and how many months they will be sold over.

There is no selling limits. This is a 10 year old account. And for paypal my friend brought in over 1200.00 on one transaction so I don't think a 100.00 item will raise any flags

Yeah but it only has 40 feedback. Selling limits are based on your selling perfromance over the last 12 months, so 10 years doesn't matter here.

How much has this account sold in the last 12 months?

By the way I was talking about selling limits in certain categories.

You would be suprised. It depends on the VERO and how you list the item on whether eBay's eyes start looking.

Shady thanks for you time in getting all the info up and stuff. appreciate it.
He has not sold anything for two years. So no activity for two years. Before that he sold some stuff here and there totaling to over 3000.00. But its here or there.

I am NOT selling anything vero. I am selling auto parts and nothing else. I just listed another item up there so now i have three items up. Haven't sold anything yet but i bought about 4-5 items already and nothing so far.

So 3 items all at 69.99 and NOT Vero is safe to list more or should i wait a few to list more?

Well since that time Ive been taking it real easy on the account . I sold three items that went for 79.99 each. Got two more up there. Did everything the right way, ( didn't take out the money from pay pal till the buyers got there items, Gave excellent customer service, Answered all questions right away and got three positive feedback for them.) So far its going good. I feel like i can list as much as i want as nothing has happened so far. Plus i got my friends ID and all his other info from him and whenever they call i can fax everything over. But i'm not going to go that route. I'm going to just be patient and enjoy this vacation before i get swamped with orders after the year is up.

So i'm going to wait till the year is up before i do any heavy listing. Do you think this is enough time?
