Default what is driving ebay to close accounts ?

i presume there are many reasons for this. would this be right on ebay reasons why accounts are closed or put on hold?

1. scammers and the damage to ebays rep as well as ebay resources getting used in trying to resolve the problems

2. competition trying to abuse the system to close competitors

3. ebay trying to make sure personal accounts are upgraded

Takes more time analyzing why they would shut accounts down than trying to make more accounts to stay ahead of the curve.

I personally think all of the above...

As far as putting accounts on hold, I think they are just looking for ways to get more information out of anyone and everyone that they can. Sounds like evil-bay wants to be its own government and monitor/get to know all of their sellers on a 'personal' level.

I find it funny, You can be a terrorist and spend your green anyway you want, but if you try to make an honest living, you're a suspect. LOL

i doubt that they are really hellbent on putting an end to all stealth. when you think about it, either way the fanny shakes eb / pp gets a cut of the action ...

i think link / limit / suspend / banning accounts is something they probably view much the same way a homeowner would view cutting the grass a/o weeding - a necessary evil, if you will.

if they could let everybody sell whatever they wanted, however they wanted, w/o having to answer to vero rights owners, the feds, ripped off buyers / sellers - u better believe they would !!!

but the game of eBay Stealth, seems much to me like survival of the fittest. - the american way -- those clever and knowledgeable enough to outwit the snares of the beast prosper. those who don't - better have a wealthy relative...

You know what's funny? Both Ebay and Paypal do more harm to themselves when the try to preempt trouble by closing and freezing account, then waiting for a problem.
When they freeze or suspend one of my account, I ship only the ones i have withdrawn money for and the rest I let go through the claims process. I have had more than one buyer email to tell me they would never use paypal or ebay again, even though they eventually got their money back after a month. I simply use one of my many other accounts.

I see more people pissed at ebay/paypal then the scammers. The scammers are obvious to me and are easy to figure out. ebay on the other hand is illogical. I truly believe that the majority of ebayers are good quality folks. However ebay and paypal have so focused on the smaller percentage of evil doers that they are stomping, trampling, forgetting, etc the good folks. Large CC companies have huge amount of loss due to fraud, but you dont see them giving me the shake for carrying a Visa or MC.

Actually, they really don't. Ebay and paypal make off with the loot either way.

They are aware that people use stealth and they are aware of scammers that just hock the cash and run.

Now check out these scenarios:

Scenario A) You have a super seller on ebay, who is making around 5k a week in sales. the money is flowing through paypal and ebay with their fees and interest. Ebay sees something that they 'do not like' and limits the account with hundreds or even thousands of dollars in it. You can send money into the account but you cannot take money out?

Who wins? Eb/pp. They get interest on all that money for at LEAST 45 days or up to 6 months....

in the mean time, the seller is struggling to make a stealth account to keep his cash flow in.

Who's cash flow never stopped and even continues? Eb/pp.

Scenario B) Scammer, trying to sell a high end, quick item to get cash. Paypal holds/limits the funds and makes them either jump through hoops to try to get he money back. in the mean time, yet again. Ebay and paypal get the funds. Why not close the account down all together paypal? Oh, you're still getting interest off of it...

These jerks (eb/pp) know what they are doing. They are aware that we are trying to make a living and its honestly a joke to them. They dont care about their reputation. They freaking paid off the BBB to get an A+ rating! Now how the heck do you keep an A+ rating when you have more complaints then you do customers?

To them, as long as the money comes in, one way or another, they don't care about who they ruin.

Wish something would come along and ruin them.

Actually the winner is seller C who sells items with stealth and has no intention of completing the deal. It costs him 5 bucks for stealth ebay and paypal account and he can make off with 2K before he can be stopped. In the process it Ebay/paypal lose potential customers reducing the bottom line all around. They think they are to big to fail because they are a monopoly, but bigger companies then them have fallen.

You are right about that. Im really tired of evil-bay altogether. I used to think that amazon would burn them to the ground in a matter of months. :/

The answer to the question is the same as for any for profit company.

I totally agree!! If it were up to e bay they would let you sell all the vero trademarked items in the world. But because of all the hell they have and still are going through with trade mark owners they put on a "SHOW" to get out of all the trouble and punishment they really deserve.

They do the crack downs and the annoying unexplained because they are trying to keep under the radar themselves...in a way.

At leasts thats my view on things

The ones doing most of the VeRO take-downs are those that own the intellectual rights to the products and/or images. eBay still acts like a middle man in the process, but by enforcing what the trademark owners report.
