Default If I buy a new Modem is my IP all set to use??

I am going to buy a new modem regardless. But after I install it with the wireless router I have now, will this change my IP so I can make an ebay account as if I am living in a different house?

Absolutely not. Your IP is given to you by your ISP Provider. I have a feeling you have many questions regarding this, so search the forum, and you will find plenty of answers and ways to go about this.

Buying a new modem will not change your IP. Your modem has nothing whatsoever to do with your IP address, which is assigned by your ISP. On most high-speed connections, you should be able to change your IP by unplugging your modem for 10-15 seconds to reboot it.

I dont know a lot about this, but I find it hard to beleive that the modem has nothing to do with your IP. I just got a new modem, and unfortunately, it has ruined everything stealth i had going on. the modem is now dominating my IP address (that used to be decided, it seemed, by my router - as I could change the MAC address there and the internet IP would change), and will not change, it seems, no matter how many hours i spend trying to figure it out, or how many times and for how long it is unplugged altogether. :(

Again, your modem does not affect your IP address. It is a dumb box that gets commands from your high speed provider. Call your ISP and ask how you can get a new IP address.

Please Ovidiu, I only use a Modem to connect to internet, NOT ROUTER, I want to know if Amazon can still track my Modem MAC Address, if need to change it, as I used it with a suspended Amazon account before. Thanks.

Amazon cannot read your MAC address, everytime you are going to login to your account check on IPBurger.com first to make sure you have a new IP address and you will be good to go, start making a note of those IP addresses as well to ensure they are different.

In my experience with making stealth Amazon accounts iv never been banned for having linking accounts, I would say they cant see your MAC address

The tracking of MAC address is a bad myth right now - quite a few posters have clarified that Amazon does not do that

Think of a modem like a telephone. It enables you to get phone calls but it does not effect your phone number.

No need to worry about MAC address tracking. They cannot track the MAC address.
