Default More horrible news from eBay

Aside from eb sending out a pincode to lift selling limits they are now requesting to have a uk postal address and a landline telephone number in addition to having a bank that accepts DDebit if you want to make your eb account into a eb business account.

Here's what it says:

"We ask for your postal address and landline telephone number so we can contact you and confirm your information."

Is this happening only on accounts you've never sold on? Or all accounts.

Don't quite understand....they want to make sure you have an address and a phone number, or they want to contact you at that address, ie send you a letter?

Ive never sold on this account before.
They wanted to send me a letter but there was also an option to call so i clicked on that and I got a unique code which I had to punch in when i rang the number.
So i called them and I explained to them im a buiness seller and i was converted to a business seller just now.

crazy stuff!

I can still list only 10 items though.
I thought maybe if i made it into a business account it will change but no.
Still wants to send me a pincode.

It is fully verified with bank, VCC and with address check. Nothing more to verify on ppal. All limits lifted.

I think the moral of the story is not to try and raise limits on a new account that has had no buying activity.

THis seems to be the overriding theme on most reports of this so far

No buying activity but probably both in reality.

The reason I say that is because most reports of pin codes being sent are on brand new accounts with no buying activity therefore the address is 'unconfirmed' for want of a better expression.

Where as accounts that have had a few purchases made and f/b left for sellers seem to avoid the letter issue.

I always buy a few bits over a period of time before selling and never had the pin code problem

I wouldn't advise buying and then trying to raise limits immediately, bit obvious

I wonder if they ask for that info now on all new accounts? or it's just random for now hmm. Interesting

Buying activity has no relation to this.

No one knows for sure right now what triggers it but I can only speak from my own experience when there's been buying on the new account then no pin code, That on 3 accounts this month

I've seen this for the past years. Used be a argument to not go business because the address/phone number was needed on the listings page.

It's not new per se.

It's new to your stealth usage.

It raises the point of re-generating sleepers. Due care must be taken if ebay wants to play ball this way

Buy something you can pick up in person!

With some personal contact you'll get nicer feedback too.

Many people are all too aware at least of the fee pitfalls of PP so would rather avoid it too, especially these days.
