Default Difficult Buyers & their stories 2012 edition

I have been selling on ebay for ages. Since the Pre-paypal days. Back when the buyer would have to either send you a money order and hope you didn't just straight up burn them or they could deal with some nefarious escrow company that ebay suggested and hope that they didn't just burn you. Back when squaretrade was a sanctioning body for ebay sellers and would mediate disputes. Back when I thought Yahoo auctions had a fighting chance against ebay.

Anyway, as long as I been on ebay one thing has alway held true: There is always a plethora of moron customers asking ridiculous and stupid things. Here are just a few of mine:

I once had a customer ask me where he could get the item I was selling cheaper.

I have had a bunch of customers ask me to end an auction I had just started at a penny for their $1-$10 bid when it was something that would clearly end for hundreds of dollars when the auction ran its course

I have had people give me a sob story about how they really needed the item I was selling and if I could please understand and sell it to them below my cost (at a loss). When I would say no to these idiots they would usually send me back an email more or less calling me a monster because I would like to make a profit.

I had a customer on ebay who was a newbie tell me I was shill bidding because as soon as he bid some amount on one of my auctions it went above the amount he bid. When I explained to him about the proxy bidding system and how the bidder before him had bid higher then his bid, he told me I was a lier and I knew nothing about how auctions work.

These are just a few stories I can remember. I'm sure some of you guys out there have some doozies to share.

Default lol

Trust me I know what you are talking about. I also started an auction, it was the newest iPad-3 only a week after it just came out and I started the auction at 99 cents because I knew it will go up in fast time and a bidder asked me if he could buy it right now if I end the auction lol However, you have to watch out for certain buyers because I think they work for ebay. For example, I have two accounts running and I am selling same item and a person asked me if I can give them my e-mail so that they can send me a picture of the item to see if it matches my item and if so they will buy it. I send the picture which was exactly the same pic & my ebay got close down a day later. Then I noticed the same person asking me the same question in my other account. I didnt respond. So beware I believe they work for Ebay. This person had zero stars (feedback) and account shows they are located in China but they are asking me questions about California which I live so beware. I believe its a new tactic that Ebay is trying out....just saying...
