asking for details when logging onto ebay chat

tried to use ebay chat today and got asked to confirm

eBay user ID email address
First and last name
Address incl. Town/city, county and postcode
Phone number


not happened to me before, most i get asked is an item number

be prepared when you chat these days

Happened to me several times in the past. May be I used a lot of live chats

Every time I have used live chat I have had to give some personal details before I can ask my question.

i prefer to avoid any contact with them if at all poss

yes they ask all that apart from phone BEFORE chat starts, then often ask the other remaining stuff during chat, particularly before they action anything for you.

yes got through ok

didnt get the problem sorted though

from research it depends on the topic you choose to chat about whether they ask for info

tried it about 30-35 times last night in different ways

leaving and recieving feedback doesnt seem to ever get the info prompt

Good of you to post this, happened to me twice 8 months back.

Pretty sure it's because the chat system is on ebay.co.uk so if you're logged into ebay.com you're not technically logged in.
