Default Buyer left a Neutral feedback but wrote a good Review

So the buyer said: "Great seller! Fast shipping. Thanks!" but left me a neutral feedback. I have contacted him twice and he did not respond. I also opened a feedback revision request but still hasn't responded to that either. What do I do? With the neural hurt me that much? If I call eBay could they change it for the buyer because I think he just made a mistake.

Thanks

I would just ignore it if he's not responding to you. He probably clicked it by mistake. I'd take a neutral over a negative any day.

You don't have anything to worry about in ebay's eyes.

Sorry, I respectfully have to disagree. While there is nothing the seller can do other than request the buyer to change it, it definitely can impact an account. If you get 3 neuts (or negs) in a 2 week time-span the bots will immediately flag your account as below-standard. And they will not tell you why until you call. After a couple months if you get fewer neuts they will put you back above standard (or whatever your previous rating was). But here`s the kicker... this goes on your history, so if by some chance your account goes below standard again within 1 year they will ban you for poor performance. Of course there is no appeal so they wont reinstate you .... all because some knucklehead clicked `neutral` instead of `positive` by mistake.

Good info, thanks for that.

Since it was only 1 neutral that's why I said it wouldn't hurt or count against him. But I didn't know a string if neutrals would count against you. Learn something new everyday.

Happened to me same as OP. Some nitwit gave me a neut with a nice text entry. A few days later a scammer gave me another one and then later on the third strike was legit but the damage was already done.

Yup, it`s insidious but thanks to this undocumented policy (even the CS reps had to hunt around to find it when I called) my account got toasted. Their reasoning was that sometimes sellers let their accounts go bad very suddenly for whatever reason and this was their way of catching it so that they can slap the 21-day hold on the account. Of course the collateral damage to seller history from this causes good accounts to get banned.

This is very true.
Just had a TRS removed from an account and rating moved to below standard for 3 nuets over 30 days .
Account was only made TRS on 20th dec then it was removed 1st Jan so its not always about the 20th review they will do it when they feel like it.

Yikes! Is there anyway I can get it changed by eBay CS? Or does the buyer have to change it?

Request the persons contact info and politely give him a ring. Tell him how such a trivial error can lead to serious worries for you.

Buyer needs to do this.

Always better to personally contact the buyer to attempt to get a resolution of issues.

Quite often you will find the personal touch works wonders for you.

There's a number of users here that take that action.

You contacted him. You offered revision request. You have done everything you can. I doubt eB will change it for you but go for it then. Personally, I would work more on off-setting this weird neutral feedback with more positives.

Not worth losing sleep over. It happens from time to time. Just be thankful it wasn't a negative.

Happened to me. My account was Top Rated, then I got 3 negatives in 2 weeks. I got an email saying I'm below standard. I do have 10 feedback revision requests. I'm about to ask them to revise. If they all do, will I automatically become Top Rated again? And will it still count on my account? Thanks.

There you go markstall - you emailed him directly and coerced to revise feedback?

Just an update because people rarely update. I've had 3 negatives revised, yet my account remains below standard. Just FYI.

I could be wrong, but I though you only had so many revisions to use. Why would you waste one on a neutral if they gave you a positive review? I understand negatives because it affects your score. But if it is neutral and they give you a decent comment what buyer is going to hold that against you? Especially since you only have so many revision requests to use. Neutrals for me I find kinda dumb but I never lose sleep over them. Negatives are another ballgame.

Getting 3 negs in quick succession will immediately put your account below standard. However, even if you get them revised, going back to your former rating will only happen during the normal performance review on the 20th.

Thanks for posting the update.

I think you get 5 revisions per year. But I got 10 maybe due to many transactions. I past the 20th review as TRS, then 4 days later, I got 4 negatives and 3 neutrals. The email they sent said it was because I got too many bad feedback, INCLUDING neutrals. So too many neutrals count too. FYI.
