I just had my Tracfone number changed to a number that is correct to my stealth address zip code so that the area code is a match with the zip code.
For those that are curious about this process, call customer service and request a # change based on what zip code you want (excuse: I now spend the majority of the year in the new zip code). The service rep now asks to identify your phone by current phone number and the phones serial number.
Now they check for available numbers within the zip you identified.
Once they confirm an available number in the zip you requested they tell you that they have to send you a new sim card so they will need a name and address to send it to. 4 to 5 days for the new sim to arrive and then you go thru the activation process again.
I was not charged a cost to do this. I could have given them any name and any address just so long as I or someone I know has access to the mailbox where the sim arrives so it did not seem to me that they were registering my real name and address to this phone.
By going this route could I not use this new tracfone number as the number I give eBay and PayPal on my stealth accounts and eliminate any call forwarding
issues? They ring the phone, I'm there to answer or they get my stealth id greeting.
Example: Say I'm a full-time RV-er and though I have an address that I own, I'm never there so I don't pay for an active land line I can't use.
Lots of eBay members full-time which means they have a cell phone only and their ship from location as well as their ship to location (if they buy as well as sell) changes every week.
So if I have a name that matches an address but a cell phone than is a pay as you go phone because you don't use it much and don't want to commit to a contract, would eBay not see this makes sense as far as phone identification goes?
Granted eBay can't verify your phone to your address or name in this scenario but what else can a full-time RV-er do ?
OR
Would I have to use only a cell phone that does show the name to a number which to me means I would have to get a monthly contract for my stealth name (which doesn't work because of having to provide a credit card and personal info belonging to my stealth id) ?
If changing my cell number to match zip code doesn't change anything and I still need call forward service, oh well, it didn't cost anything.
