I seriously doubt it, you have the right to do whatever you want to your listing, I would block this person and not worry about it. Just because they send you an offer, doesn't mean you have to take it.

i know..i just dont want him to use the 'report listing' function either - as sometimes you can get a MC999 for that.

I honestly didnt even raise the price in response to his offer...i just had a few left and wanted to raise the price so the listing doesnt end so i have time to get more...

I dont see the problem here. This happens all the time to me. I always offer the difference. Sometimes when a buyer has a question and I know the price will be raising, I even offer them the difference in a refund if purchased in the next 24hours. Id rather get a good sale so I can buy more products and make increase my profits. The customer should be extremely happy by the customer service provided and leave feedback.

I get what you are saying and I like keeping auctions going because more are sold when they see "20 sold".

yea i get..i just feel like a customer like this would be a hassle to deal with..from the sounds of his email, its almost guaranteed that he will find a problem with the order when he receives it...

How would you feel if you were on the other side with limited knowledge of eBay. Would you feel the seller is trying to scam you?

I find buyers are extremely sensitive to prices, and when you raise the price of a popular item that has a lot of watchers, you're bound to get a few angry letters. I ALWAYS offer those guys the prior lower price, because I just don't see any other way, even if I lose a few bucks.

If you don't, they're mad and hold a grudge/never buy from you || but if you do give them the lower price, they think you're doing them a favor and will remember it.

But that's just hindsight... with this guy-- at this point I feel if you offer him the deal you're giving in to his threats/fear you're asking for more trouble because more likely than not he'll open a eBay case after he gets it and try to get it completely for free.

If you don't, he might report the auction(s) and move on.

So it comes down to either potentially having to deal with an eBay case the buyer opens on you once he gets it OR dealing with a few reports and their possible side effects...

I honestly would just take the reports, I really don't think one sore ebayer will have any effect on my account. Or if it helps you sleep better at night, cut your losses and make the deal.

I dont think the customer is going to be any problems. He has every right to be angry, as he thinks he is getting the run around on eBay. He does not understand the seller's point of view, he knows that he showed interest in the item and now over night it went up 5$.

He did not choose his words wisely when trying to see if the seller would sell the item at the old price.

It is usually best to just ignore those type of messages.

Hopefully they get bored/forget about it and move on to annoying another seller

Anyone who low-balls me. I just add them to the blocked list. I had this one member back in December.

This eBayer messaged me twelve times over a week asking I would accept his low ball offer. Then after a week, he send me a message saying I was a jerk and we should have done business together, etc.

Some people are nuts. This was a fixed price item with multiple quantity you could clearly see items would sell every other day or something like that. And this yahoo though he could just dictate his price. Like he even knew if I would break even or lose money etc.

To sum it up. I never respond to people like this. I always just block them. If you don't like my price or something like that. Feel free to purchase from somebody else.

Don't ever tell a customer you have blocked them! They MAY come with vengeance, buy and not pay you, neg you etc.... Just forget it. Ignore, block and move on.

I would just tell him price has now changed, may change back to original price in the next few weeks.

I would then block them. Sounds a like a lot more hassle than its worth.

Can you imagine if you had sold to this nut job? If I get any disturbing communication from a potential buyer from experience I know they are going to be problematic for sure so I block them. it's just not worth it. 1 bad feedback can cause catastrophic damage to your acct.

OP, you have received a lot of really good info. Especially from Mitsu & the person that said to NEVER tell somebody you blocked them. Just do that and move on. Don't let this nut job get FREE rental space in your head. Good luck.

Block and move on.

They are wanting something for nothing.

What you will find is many buyers on ebay see you list an item and act like you have to sell it to put food on your table and will accept anything.

For some reason we have to deal with buyers who think you need the money or those professional buyers who just sit and buy all day long hoping to get a freebie from us.
