eBay verifies seller info with public record?

I opened a stealth account on ebay about 3 weeks ago. A couple of days ago, I decided to list the first item (low value less than $2). The listing was removed instantly. I called eBay to find out why? Was told that ebay cannot verify my identity using the name and address on the stealth account with public record. As as result the stealth account was permanently restricted from selling?
So what is going on? Is eBay pulling some new tricks to make stealth account increasingly impossible? Anyone have the same experience? Any idea to address such verification?

Created a stealth called in and they gave me the ok. You may have just got unlucky.

They've been doing this for a while its usually pretty easy

The security team possibly tried to call the phone on file and nobody picked up.

Really you just call in and they ask the same questions. What do you plan on selling? How will you ship? etc… 60% of the time they will bring the account back and the other 40% they will ask you to fax info in.

Did you happen to use a phony address?

I used an actual street address, but I do not live there.
eBay asked a few questions and then told me that they could not find my info (I guess that means my name, address, phone number etc) in public record. So eBay just restricted the account.
Did anyone else have such experience? If eBay asked you these probing questions, how did you answer?

i had this happen to me got a 0 out of 0 selling .

This is not a rare case - you call in and try to have it lifted - sometimes you get asked for documents, sometimes you get through no problems and sometimes - as in your case - the account is axed.

Might be worth learning stealth and re-doing your setup. Discuss your steps for assistance
