Default Free way to send "thank you" note via eB messages?

Hi -

I want to automatically send a short note after each of my buyers buys something.

Quote:
Hi, thank you for your recent purchase, I will bend over backwards to meet your every beck and call because you are a buyer on the internet and that makes you a living God. Please for the love of humanity give me 5 stars because if you don't my small children will starve and die while vomiting blood into a 3rd world toilet.
Is there a way to do this automatically using either gmail or eB custom settings? I know I can do it through a 3rd party solution, but that costs $ that I don't want to spend over 100+ accounts.

You can auto send emails with gmail, but I'd consider changing your note lol.

Yes, and yes. But I guess my expanded question is - Do those autoresponding emails actually work with eB messages and do they get relayed?

Has anyone here done this before?

I have found buyers do not read emails.

There may even be truth to a rumour that buyers can not read

I enclose a note with each parcel.

Keep in mind gnats have limited attentions span.

So do buyers.

They tend to not equate that parcel with that note.

confused.com therefore.

I usually enclose a very nice and polite note in my parcels mainly asking if they had any kind of problem with the item.

If so, my customers are kindly invited to get in touch with me to solve the problem.

If everything is fine and they are happy I ask to leave a positive feedback.

Generally it works... not always.

Leave a note with a business card drawing them to your own website. Just a thought.

Yes yes yes and yes. I do all that. I want to do more.

I want to send an automated eBay Message as well.

Does Gmail auto-responder work for this?

This is just my own personal experience but I found that the harder I tried to go the "extra mile" and include notes and extras, the more it inclined the odd bunch of buyers to find something to complain about and leave a negative feedback. Yes I know, makes no sense to use normal people but the "ignorants" feed on that! Maybe they think you'll be a "soft" target. Best to "get in and get out" with a sale. However, including a business card is a good idea, if their ignorant they'll toss it or lose it anyway. Watch out for the ignorants!

No communication is the best communication. No feedback is the best feedback.

Asking for feedback upsets people who are upset who otherwise would never leave feedback.

Opening communication AFTER the sale allows the buyer to leave DSR scores for communication compared to automatic five stars.

NO NEWS IS GOOD NEWS.

But I understand your intentions.

If you find a way to get HAPPY buyers to leave feedback on Amazon, let me know. I will be gracious if your solution works.

I am another who thinks sending thankyou emails all abit too much.

For me, as a buyer, it is just a bit sickly.

I believe if you stick to the terms in your listing, and mark as dispatched so they receive the automated email, that is enough for 99% of buyers.

I have always included a note in each package I send. It thanks the buyer and gives them an 800 number they can call if there are any problems. It also has an email address on it. A few people use it and I am sure it has cut down on cases opened for "not as described" because those are usually the people that use it. I would much rather work something out with them directly, rather than having eBay involved since it dings your record no matter what.

To my mind, it is unfair, because there are HONEST SNAD's like "the book was listed as like new and looks that way from the outside, but inside it had 2 pages torn out" and DISHONEST SNAD's like "you sent me a counterfeit". One is an honest error and the other is fraud, but eBay does not distinguish between the two.

Omgoozle, I know if you simply reply to an ebay message via email (gmail or other) it goes through like an ebay message as if you sent it while logged in.

I'm sure the link could be analyzed to find a way to insert any buyer's email into that.

Off ebay communication is much much better than on ebay communication. Keeps your communication DSRs clean.

Great advice Jeff!

I've sent mints in the past! I've also seen some power-sellers send a small note with a taped "life-saver" candy on it. Seems to a be a pleasant extra mile to walk for that customer satisfaction.
