Question 7 Year Old EB Account - Send ID or Start New (Same PP Account)

Hi again everyone.

Okay, I have a 7 year old EB and PP account.

PP account is in good condition, still has 1900 limit - but all else is good.

7 year old EB account was accessed from a new IP to list something (from a new mobile broadband network, as old one was lost).

Thought worst case scenario I would need to do phone verification again. Unfortunately, EB blocked selling capabilities and requested ID.

My question - should I send in ID (stealth) using the same 'remove limits' service some sellers offer here -or- can I just re-open a new stealth EB account but.. use the same PP account that was associated to the old one?

Reason I want to use the same PP - the process of setting up a whole new PP account will be too long-winded (new bank account, cc card, 21 day holds etc).

All I really want to do is sell a couple items around the house quickly and feel doing another stealth PP would be too long-winded.

Thoughts? Is it too risky setting up a new EB and associating it with the old PP? Should I just opt for new stealth EB and PP?

I acknowledge I may need to access the old PP with the new IP i'll be using whilst setting up the new EB stealth account. Even more risky?

Weird thing is, surely PP should be aware that sometimes people may move or upgrade their internet and therefore access accounts from different IPs. Instant ID request I think is too much though!

Sorry, if it all sounds very complex and text is long. Just need to sell some used items pretty quickly as moving.

Thanks.

Whole thread is too long winded too.

You are forgetting that if you sign in from another device, both ebay & paypal decide to protect the account from possible hacking.

Save the existing account where possible. Do what you have to do.

I agree with greenbean.

Save the account.

Perhaps set up another stealth in the mean time. Just incase.

If both accounts are fine, then you can use them.

Looks like the only problem you face is submitting id to lift the selling restriction. You also need to find out WHY you go this, as most of the time this will not be lifted if it was linked etc..

So if you wanting to spend money to see if you can get a 7 year account active then try, you can submit ID for that and then use the SAME id to lift the limits on the paypal account.

Only problem you will have is if you cannot remember the date of birth you entered as all document info needs to match.

What ever you decide you CANNOT use the OLD paypal account with a NEW ebay account as it is linked to another account with a selling restriction, it will always be linked to that so anything bad that happens to the old account will also happen to your new one if you link them.

Thanks Bunneh,

Good detailed response - I will try and save the original account and lift PP as I'm sure it was just the IP change that triggered it.

Quick extra question;

I've opted to save the account by providing ID. Once ID has been uploaded to both EB/PP and (hopefully) approved, does this mean I can now access both accounts from a new UK IP without being blocked?

The EB account was last accessed a year ago with a different Mobile Broadband Dongle than the Dongle I currently use now with the PP account.

Ultimately, I'd like to setup a new laptop and run both EB and PP accounts from the same Mobile Broadband to prevent any confusion.

Yes a new IP will be fine, as long as its not the same as a banned one, which is when you will have issues.
Mobile broadband dongles IP range changes a LOT .

Did you use a mobile broadband dongle for the OLD internet connection?

Okay, perfect. I'll buy a new dongle.

Yes I used a mobile broadband dongle for the old one. It was on a different network.

The new dongle/IP I plan to use will be on a totally different network.
