Yes its a managed return when they print the label - how do you know they didnt print the label? eBay use RM and Collect+. Buyers know if they print the label the return is free to them, so I am not sure why they have sent it to you by the most expensive RM service off their own back. But it could be a managed return, this is the only plausible reason why the eBay rep said they would check on Monday. (but still think it was just a bluff)
If there is no signature, then eBay have made an error (pretty standard really!). So contact them again explaining that to the rep. You might need to try a couple of times to get a better rep. I have found email customer services are reasonable for cases like this, so try that also, it takes them up to 72 hours to reply.
But remember calling eBay is a risk to Stealthers, so weigh up what the item means to you.
