Just because the IP would be the same on your new laptop, that doesn't mean you won't have problems. Most error messages are generated because of missing cookies. Meaning if you start running your accounts with brand new browsers you may have problems.
Why not just clone your old hard drive?
Or if you don't want to do that, consider virtualizing your old laptop using VMWare. That way you could access your old laptop's entire filesystem from your new laptop.
Either way, don't just start fresh with a new browser. Definitely not recommended!

I received a new laptop for Christmas and have moved three of my nine eB/PP accounts from my old desktop to my new laptop. When first logging into my eB/PP accounts from the new laptop, I was asked to verify my identity by either confirming via email or text message. I don't believe it was any big deal but again, I've only moved three of nine account so I'll see what happens in the future as I slowly move the other six accounts.

Yes you need to use your old laptop to change all the phone numbers in each account with a bunch of new sims and then when you come to switch device you can pop each in/out your phone to verify them on your new laptop

If you don't want to just migrate your browsers to your new PC, you can google "migrate browser profiles." Doing that would allow you to move all of your browser data from one computer to another, without having to clone or virtualize your old hard drive.
Personally I would just virtualize the old computer. Really simple in VMware and you wouldn't have to worry about anything, because the VM would be identical to your old computer.
To the guy who suggested adding new phone numbers to all accounts before attempting migration, that will not work. You can add all the new phone numbers you want to Paypal, but when it comes time for verification Paypal will only text/call the original phone number on file. I suggest steering clear of this idea.
So, unless you have access to all of the original phone numbers, make sure you do this properly or you will have big problems.

It's a little more complex than simply dragging and dropping Firefox to your new PC.
Check it: https://www.google.com/search?q=how+...utf-8&oe=utf-8
That's for firefox, but all browsers have profiles where your data is stored.

There are ways to copy your cookies on to browsers, if you search for mm78's posts, that may help you a bit. Quote:

Just googling how to transfer user profiles/cookies for the browser you're using would be an easier/more direct route

In the past I have simple had both laptops side by side. Log in with new one. If I get the message, simple log in with the old PC and log out and go back to the new one and log in. Always worked. Once everything was running on both, reformat the old one and start building new accounts.

Everyone seems to be overcomplicating things. Just save your browsing history and then upload it to your new laptop for each user profile. I have done this with Firefox. Save all the history, cookies, cache...then upload it to the new Firefox browser on the new computer. Now you will have the established history for the new one.

You can use whatever browser you like best. Firefox has been crashing daily lately.

OK, I will be first to admit I am not a computer genius so please bare with me.
Why is importing cookies onto a new pc so important?
If you were not a stealther, then it would be a perfectly normal and natural thing to do to clear you history now and then wouldn't it....I used to do it all the time? So why is it so important? | |

If that number is not active then more troubles to get you account unlocked

But if you had a phone, or at least a sim for each account then it wouldn't be an issue then?

It is not normally an issue anyways and if you have an old device such as the original laptop then all you have t0 do is log in and out and the new devise is fine.
