Activity: 0% Longevity: 87% | | 21 day Hold news
Hello Everybody,
Not only is the 21 day hold trick dead, there is more going on. Hope everybody is happy and really learned his lesson this time, i tried to do the Trick a little more than a week ago with 1 of my ebay transactions a bit over 125$. Nothing happened, so i was waiting for the buyer to leave me feedback, left feedback last Tuesday and normally the money would be released within 24 hours. Now it is Saturday and i still don't have a single $, i called paypal and they told me the next thing: Paypal:Sir,
Did you try to play with our sercurity rules? Ebayfreak:
Me? No not a at all what do you mean. Paypal:
Last months a lot of people found a way around our security system and if i look to your account you did the same thing 2 days after you received this payment. Ebayfreak:
Don't know what you mean, could you please tell me what is going on here. Paypal,
Sorry Sir, for know you will have to wait the full 21 days to get access to the money. We are very sorry but this are the new security rules. Is there anything else i can help you with right now? Ebayfreak:
Yes go and **** yourself( Not really what i told them). Have a great day lady thanks for your help.
What i did was refunded the buyer a amount of 6$, not a cent or anything. So make sure to not try the trick anymore because the ****heads at paypal will keep your money for 21 days, no way around it that is for sure. Let me know anybody else had the same thing. And this is a paypal account that is more than 4 months old, so not a brand new account. And i sell for over 1500$ on this account every week
Thanks,
Ebayfreak

Paypal is getting smarter! lol
Couldn't you say you had to refund the buyer because you found out shipping was cheaper or something? If you only refunded $.01 I can see them doing this, but $6 you should be able to tell them something.

aspkin & aking are correct. Rules are laid down by paypal. Any rule can be tweaked.
tbh, I am laughing at the thought of thousands of sellers doing the 'trick' and wondering why it is finished. No imagination, like.

You should have said you were providing a promotional discount for a first customer purchase.
A seller would have been smart to issue a 2% to 5% refund depending on actual amount. Then include in the message of the refund "PROMOTIONAL FIRST PURCHASE X% OFF"
One would do that.

I would'nt send a thing off until the funds were in my hands. I would have told that lady at paypal to take a hike. lol ill be damned if i will let paypal collect interest off my money and risk losing my items if something goes bad with in 21 days.

My beef is having the lack of liquidity for 3 weeks. How can you flip inventory with a hold like that?

Work multiple accounts at different times and you'll have a constant money flow.

I don't know what's happening, but PayPal stopped 21 day hold on me, or at least I think so. My feedback is only 40, 100%, account opened 08/2007. The previous two transactions couple of weeks ago were between 950-1500 and I did get hold, of course as expected. My last two transactions were: one at 20.00 something including postage and the last one at 390.00 with postage -total 426.00 since I have to ship to Australia. No hold, so I hope it stays this way.
The interesting thing about this is that both of my two last transaction are international shipments, one was to Belarus and one to Australia. The bigger two before that were both to US.
I wonder if this has something to do with it (shipping internationally), because you probably can't enter tracking number when you ship USPS International. So than PayPal can't follow and maybe can't impose 21 day hold because of it? Anyone else with similar observations?

^^^Today I started using an account that has never been used to sell before. had around 15 feedback and is about 6 months old. First payment was about $25 with no hold. I haven't had an account yet that didn't get the first 10 or so payments held since it started and I've used 6 month old accounts before. maybe they're laxing the holds some?

Maybe they are Gurusgrafx, I hope so. But I also just recently got my PayPal debit card for this account, so not sure if that also helped a little.

I have had the 21 day hold for items priced $20-$50 shipped to the UK from the US. So it doesn't seem like the 'international theory' is the answer.
I *am* wondering if the debit card changes the formula, though....

Yea, me too Vicvelrco...I was thinking International because if you ship USPS there is usually no tracking number, so PayPal can not track it and demand that from you as USPS is one of approved PayPal shippers. I will list few more things this week and see what happens...But could be PayPal Debit card that did the trick.
