Unhappy 21 day paypal hold

Ughhh so I suppose I was so much of an eBay vetran (5+ years) that when I started there was no such thing as paypal holding your money for 3 freakin weeks making interest on it, just because you are new. SO frustrating. I have read the other posts pertaining to this, but what I am wondering is how many transactions must I do before they stop holding my money? When I read the paypal page about it, it talks about how if you have had your account open for more than a year with over 100 feedbacks yadayadayada....so I am totally freaking out thinking that they are going to continue to hold my money after each auction for 21 days for a year until I have 100 feedbacks? Is this right? Please say no! OMG SOOO scared! Is there a way to get around this? Please let me know...Thanks guys

Better to just deal with it instead of trying something that will get your accounts looked at.

Its not really a 21 day hold, your money is released shortly after delivery.

__________________________________________________ __________

Just a temporary inconvenience until...

PayPal will not hold payments for eBay items if you meet the following criteria:

* You have been an eBay member for more than 6 months, and
* Your total Feedback score is greater than 100, and
* Fewer than 5% of your transactions result in dissatisfied buyers*

OR

* Your average DSR is greater than 4.5, and
* Your have received more than 20 DSRs in the last 12 months

My Stealth account was opened in October. My first orders were held under the 21 day rule for THREE DAYS after verified delivery. The 21 day hold came OFF after I hit 50 feedback.

I'm unsure on how they decide holds or exactly what triggers them but for example on 2 of my stealthy accounts, here is how they worked for me.

acct #1: listed low price items to start ($1 to $15 items) all auctions, at 15 positive feedback I began to list items ($25 to $75) BIN and on 3rd sale of an item in this range, got hit with a 21-day hold on the least expensive of the 3 items. Just the one hold and never had any other holds. I emailed buyer after entering tracking info and pleaded for good feedback once they received item. As soon as they left feedback, hold was released within approx. 24 hours or less.

acct #2 listed similar low priced items to start - all auctions, got to 30 positive feedback and began to list ($25 to $75 items) BIN. Sold 15 items priced at $33 quickly (before christmas) and every single one of them hit with 21-day holds. Only 2 have been released due to feedback, the rest have never given feedback even after begging basically.

These 21-day holds finally release here in a few days.

So, what triggers holds? I have no idea

My Rant to end 2009
All you ebay buyers - you all suck if you dont leave feedback for sellers. It is your duty to rate your purchase. Ebay/Paypal makes us cater to you 100% and you hold more power than a buyer should. If you dont hesitate to leave negative feedback, be fair and leave positive when transaction is good!

::::::::::tanding ovation:::::::::::::::::: But, in all fairness to the buyers...think of them as 5 year olds who are in a department store pulling everything off the shelves and destroying the isles. If the mama ignores them and just continues on her way and admonishes those that point out the 5 year olds transgressions...she TURNS on them rather than discipline the 5 year old...who can you REALLY blame?

Mama Ebay and Papa Paypal need a good public flogging.

I have found that in the past, after your account gets 20+ detailed seller ratings they will stop the 21 day hold. So basically get 20+ SELLER feedback WITH ranking and you should be ok.

So, technically then, after 20 feedbacks from buyers, the will stop holding my $$?

I believe it is they have to rate you as well, not just leave feedback

luvmyyorkie,

Since some people give Feedback without filling out the DSR score.

Its 20 detailed DSR Ratings...not 20 Feedback.

you need to sell about 30 items before they stop holding money. You dont start getting DSR until you have a score of 10. Them you have to have 20 DSR. Also, I dont think its 21 days anymore, I think they changed it to 11 days, not that they really hold it for that long (well they never have held mine that long). Just sell your items and ship right away and you'll get your money whenever I few days. Just play by the rules.

Is that 10 feedback period? Or does it have to be just from selling? Like I could buy 10 feedback or so buying small items.

That is incorrect.... you get the DSRs they just don't show on your feedback page until you actually get 10. So you need 20+ feedback from buyers who have also rated you 1-5 star in each of the 4 areas....

If you click on the pending balance you can get a break down of exactly which payments are being held and when they will be released. Mine are always 21 days or until tracking is confirmed as delivered/feedback left.
