| | | SevnSins | 01-09-2010 09:51 AM | LOL! This is great. Are there any "old-timers" out there that are from the IRC era? Torrents have made everything so easy for newbies.
;) |
| BooMer | 01-13-2010 08:21 AM | Getting Warez from AOL Private chat rooms for requesting/sending mass mailing lists back in 1995 is consider a "Old Timer" Sevnsins? Back then everything was being sent via email in batches.
I agree, Torrents is so much easier for the newbies in the Warez community and a lot safer.
You gotta love Technology!

You want to talk old school... How about using a 300 baud modem on a commodore 64 to call your local bbs which ran color64 or DMBBS to post and download warez like a Ruggie. Back in 1987... WoW... How times change... That is pretty old school! |
| tripleflip18 | 01-15-2010 11:07 AM | I have an invite to a site with HD Movies. You gotta be able to keep the ration 1:1 (download/upload) If you need HD movies and can promise to keep a good ration PM me for an Invite. |

Interesting thread. So this is just to post links to random things that are verified safe from torrent sites? | Yes or just anything Torrent related...But this Thread is also for people interested learning how to do Torrents or just having general questions about Torrents. |

| vetus | 01-15-2010 10:44 PM | Ok i have a question for you guys,
What is the best software for downloading torrents?
What is the best and why? or are they all just the same?
E.g. Vuze, bittorrent, utorrent, bitlord etc
I use Vuze.
Interested to hear your comments.
Cheers Trotts. |
| captainjack1980 | 01-16-2010 07:10 AM | I use utorrent. Doesn't tie up all my system resources or crash every five minutes.

| vetus | 01-16-2010 07:46 AM | Ive just downloaded it, its much better, im un installing vuze right now, vuze is full of ads compared.
Ive used vuze/azureus for years as well, it was ok before when it was azureus but just got worse and worse since it changed its name to vuze last year.
utorrent all the way from now on. :) |
| revenge | 01-25-2010 10:33 PM | utorrent is great but i all depend on your set up and if you forward your port.
I haven't had problems with vuze but it's all in your configuration. |
| jtaverner76 | 01-29-2010 12:21 AM | Newsgroups only for me ;) |
| TGMT² | 01-29-2010 02:17 AM | ^^^ Post a couple of the Newsgroups you like so we can check them out. I admit I haven't been to a Newsgroup site since 1996 |

You gotta pay for a subscription but it's dirt cheap if you consider all the stuff on there. I dl 100's of gb a month. |
| Vicvelcro | 01-30-2010 07:19 AM | Simple cure for the resource hogging in Vuze and the 'media experience'.
Simply go into options, expand the "Interface" tree, find the UI chooser, and switch to classic Azureus mode. Voila!
Vuze/Azureus configured in classic mode is much better than anything else I have ever used (except Earth Station 5 which is defunct). Quote:

| TGMT² | 05-04-2010 01:22 PM | Several members have been commenting on how good the "Spartacus Blood And Sand" series is.
So last night I downloaded it and watched the 1st episode (13 total) and it was VERY GOOD!
For those interested in downloading from Pirate Bay, here is the link I used in HD quality... Spartacus Blood And Sand Season 1 HD (download torrent) - TPB |

| jamblix | 05-04-2010 05:59 PM | Torrents used to be the way to go, I like streaming all my media now. When I did use bittorrent I used BTJunkie.com they have never failed and I never got any viruses/bugs off that site.
For T.V. the absolute best place to watch all the T.V. you want is SideReel.com. You can literally find any T.V. show you want to watch without having to wait to download before watching.
For streaming movies you can go to movies-links.tv or alternatively OVguide.com and use the search bar. Never had a problem finding a movie I wanted to watch on these sites unless they don't come out for another year.
This is for all the people who don't want to wait a half hour or more to download the media before you can watch what you want these sites give you direct links to all streaming media. Of course torrents are the way to go if you'd like to keep them and sometimes they offer better quality vs. streaming.

Last time I used it (about 6 months ago) there was commercial interruptions and buffering issues. Plus keep in mind this a torrent thread, and I doubt you can "Stream" a update for your GPS unit or find a Nero application on Hulu.
Like I said in my 1st post: Most of the movies I download are "Screeners"...which means they have not been released on DVD and are not available to the public.
And I doubt you can Stream most Screeners as they are probably not available. |
| Stream | 05-04-2010 09:10 PM | I have a paid site that's just rotting. Was thinking of what I need to do with it. Should I make it a torrent site? if so would you want to be a mod over there TGMT?
Sorry aspkin. I'm not trying to take your employers. HEH :focus: |
| doughboykilla | 05-04-2010 09:44 PM | Wonder how u get around the MPAA tracking what u download? I got a disney movie and i guess one or some of the seeders was MPAA or some one of the sort and they was able to get my ip then they reported to my isp then now i got a email from my isp for copy wirte infringment and if i do it to much they will suppened my account. |
| TGMT² | 05-04-2010 10:01 PM | GREAT Question Doughboy!
There are ways to minimize your risk.
The 1st one of course is to use your neighbors unsecured WiFi connection, but doing so will end up with them getting a letter sooner or later and they in turn will secure their connection.

Here's some tips using your own connection for downloading Movies and Applications that might get you reported....
Wait to download until you see the seeder ratio at 2-1 or more. For instance 100 seeders and 50 leachers. That way you can get the download very fast and terminate the seed.
I know a lot of hard core torrents users will be upset with this next statement...but NEVER Seed anything that might get you reported, right after you get your download STOP the torrent. Seed other stuff to keep your ratio up.
And lastly...anything controversial try and download late at night. I think there is less reporting at that time.
Hope some of this helps. :suspicious: |
| doughboykilla | 05-04-2010 11:06 PM | O so they get u just by seeding or can they get u while downloading it cause i can just not seed if thats the case.
I used a service called itchycats.com they work wonderfully very very fast download speeds i was doing like 2.3 mb a sec on my downloads but im not sure if they could track ur downloads through them. it cost $25 a month though to use this service. | | All times are GMT -5.
