How long should I wait until selling for new Ebay account?
 

Followed the Stealth guide to a T, like usual. Created the account I believe Sunday afternoon. I have been searching, watching, just doing other bull stuff. How long do you think before I can list two or three DVD's for sale? Everything is confirmed on Paypal and such too.

I am going to start out slow obviously, I am probably going to sell 20 or so used DVD's so I can get the seller rating to 20 and get rid of the stupid 21 day hold, but I was just wondering how long you should age Ebay accounts before jumping in and selling. Really don't want to get popped for the ID verify or anything.

Be careful with used DVDs. Do a mixture of items if you can.

Really? You think they would think they were bootleg? I have new ones I could sell as well, I was just hoping to get some feedback up. I don't like selling used ones either too because I make it clear I do not accept refunds because people buy them, copy them, and then return them. But they will make up an excuse like Oh there is a scratch on it and file a claim and I have to give them their money back. That has happened like 3 times. Used items a bitch to sell in anything.

Not really in anything.... If you are selling authentic designer items, many times it is better to sell used than new ones. Gets under less scrutiny because why would somebody be selling brand new shoes or purse that cost them hundreds or thousands?..and for less than they bought? It's Ebay..

Just start slow, but do get started.

As soon as my account is classified as a seller account, I begin.

Also on one account, I listed about 6-7 bluray movies (my own) from the get go and once those sold, listed 5 more and then moved on to other things. No problems experienced.

Good luck, just act as a new seller would. Dont try to move $6000 through there your first week like you see some posts on here questioning why they are limited or have to provide numerous documents.

Sounds like you and I do about the same thing. I have a wholesale place I get Blu Rays from I have like 7 Star Trek Blu Rays I need to list for sale. First though I would like to get rid of the 21 day hold though before I start selling any major items. I was just initially wondering if maybe I should wait for a little bit before selling.

It's not always how long you wait, but sometimes what your selling. I personally would not start off selling DVDs on a new account. Just sell random stuff around the house or buy a large lot of items and sell individually. I personally don't list until my accounts are 3-4 months old, but I have about 10 accounts made and aging as we speak.

Aking, Are the aged accounts you refer to "Seller accounts" or "Buyer" accounts?

The accounts I have aging are buyers accounts. I have done nothing with these accounts but create them. By the time I get ready to use them, they will be almost a year old. By then, ebay will not look twice at these accounts when I make them a seller account.

Planning ahead and being patient is the only way to be successful on eBay.

Exactly! Plan for long term, dont move too quick and pay attention too simple mistakes you could easily make and avoid them.

I wait 30 days before selling but start buying straight away.

I just listed 5 items for sale, 3 used DVDs and a couple books. I am going to wait till they sell, ship, and get feedback before I list anymore I think. I just need to get this thing up and running fast I have a big lot of Blu Rays I need to start listing!

One of the problems with my business it that it has become too reliant on another companies website. If your goal is to sell your merchandise, don't forget about other online marketplaces.

Usually with a new ebay account I have a right rummage through the house and find 100 bits of "tat".

IE: calculators, used shoes, CD's the odd DVD, a broken watch etc etc.

Now these things are not worth a whole lot, but when I list them I acheive 2 things. 1) I get rid of any household clutter ( I am a vigourous de-clutterer)

2) You build trust in your ebay account, and when you sell low value things you dont often get any paypal holds or any problems.

If you can hit the magic number of at least 50 feedback or even better 100, then you can start selling better stuff in the account.

I do this often. It's good advice.


However, keep in mind, you will get limited. It's just a matter of time.

Yup, at this point in my life I figure to keep an Ebay account about 2 months at the longest. Sell to the 20 feedback, get the hold removed, sell the stuff that depreciates in value then start selling the bigger stuff. As the payments come in I quickly print shipping and withrdraw the money. Once I sell a certain amount the limitation will come in, but I say eff it and just create another account. Ebay and paypal have stole thousands from me so I figure to just screw them out of their fees as much as possible.

Well i don't know what you selling or doing to get limited that quickly, i hardly ever get any of my accounts limited and even if one does i usually get it straight back anyway.

Yes thats right no annoying PP holds.

First what do you mean that you will get limited its just a matter of time?

Do you mean when you start selling Vero stuff?

Otherwise once you are established there is no reason that you should be limited as long as you keep nice high DSR's and offer excellent customer service?
