Will Paypal catch me when confirming a credit card with my real name and address?

New to this forum still and still reading.

I used my real name and address to activate my Walmart Greendot pre-paid card as it is required. They ask for SS# and such. And since it is a bank-backed card, must use REAL info. So when I go to enter information into Paypal about the card I am using so they can confirm it, I have to input my real name and address as I it is on my Walmart card.

Problem is that my real name and address are associated with a previously limited Paypal account.

So will they catch me and limit this account too if I am only giving them my real info just for confirming the card?

The info I used to open the Paypal account is of course bogus and does not match my info on my card.

Yes they will catch you. Normally the card wont confirm if they name and address don't match. You are going to have to have everything match the name. You can't have a paypal account in Joe Schmoe and then try to confirm a credit card in your name. It won't work and the account will get limited immediately.

Are you sure? I know that PayPal only confirms the zip code not the address. I know if your account gets limited then they might try to confirm the name on the card.

I believe with AVS check for Visa and Mastercard with paypal they only look at the street number and zip code....

With all due respect...... why would you think they wouldn't link you? All information has to be new, credit card, address, everything. Your name can be the same, but not with the same adress.


Greendot prepaid card is basically opening a bank account, and getting a card to go with it. You need a prepaid card that is a prepaid gift card, non reloadable.

Well, I didn't use the prepaid GIFT card and used the prepaid Money card to open my Paypal account because didn't know if walmart gift Visa card would work. Was not Green Dot but just Walmart. And minimum gift card was $50. Which is a lot for me. Yes, I know that if it didn't work, I didn't lose $50 but would have a $50 gift card that I would then need to use. But I hate using gift cards!

Anyway, so I did use a variation on my name (added just one letter to my last name) and address to register the prepaid money card and not my REAL EXACT name and address although I did have to use my real SS#. So hope the feds don't come knocking! No problems with opening the account.

I used this variation on my name and address to open and then verify this Paypal account and IT WORKED! Limits lifted! And no limited account so far. but of course, I have not actually USED this new Paypal account for receiving any money yet so they may be waiting for me to drop moolah in there first as is their sneaky ways!

So maybe they do only check for numbers when doing the AVS check. Will keep everything small for now to stay off the radar though.

So does anyone know if the Walmart Gift card work? Maybe I'll try it and report back.

Oh yes, and then AFTER I verified my Paypal account with this card, I then went back and called Walmart (or whoever services the card) to tell them that I had entered the wrong address and had them correct it to the right address.

So any thoughts on this method? Yeah, more trouble than using a VCC but cheaper though! And it's Walmart! A name you can "trust"!
