Yea, There has been a Customs Crackdown Over at DHL Going on for a Week Now,,,it's Normal,,,, it's gotta Happen a Couple of times a Year,,,,It Usually "Rolls",,,Next one may be Fedex, EMS or UPS,,,,So Stay Calm,,,and Wait for it to Blow Over at DHL and Then Use them as Normal,,,,,Until the Next Crackdown "Rolls" Around,,,

I have a couple big boxes coming thru dhl in the next day -- i'll update.
had one big box get there friday and it made it thru--it'll be delivered to me Monday.

from your experience, how long do the 'rolls' last?

about a week,,,Depends Really

my main supplier has refused to ship by dhl now.

DHL shipment came through Cincinnati today. Hooray! Sure hope it will be ok for a while.

Got another DHL through Cincinnati today. It is looking better.

I am having the same experience. Very reliable overseas seller is telling me i should accept to ship by Ems and not dhl. I have never had to this request. This is what is happening now. think ahead. i am being told shipping is now 7-14 days. but i rather i get it.

are u finding extra cost for ems? it's more expensive so supplier adds $
who is having this experience? Is ems raising your costs a bit for safety?

There always a risk when buying stuff that it will get seized. In the U.K. at the moment customs is really clamping down on the importation of ⊗⊗⊗⊗.

I understand this, i am specifically talking about the use of ems instead of dhl as advised orig. by one of my suppliers. But then they told me all packages in the last week are ok.

Ems has extra cost - they told me $50 - $150 more for 30+ kg

Went to track my numbers tonight through USPS because it was shipped EMS and not DHL.
So the seller put my name, address, city and state as normal but put a different first number in my zipcode.

Now both of my packages say the same thing:
Insufficient Address, September 25, 2010, 7:49 pm, ISC NEW YORK NY(USPS)
Needless to say that I live about a thousand miles from New York City.

The seller has asked me to check with my local USPS Office to get the packages to the right city and state.

I am pissed off now.....

I will see what the USPS tells me tomorrow.

keep us posted, in my experience, i have never been able to get usps to ship to a different address, dhl,ups,fedex i'm able to get them delivered to another address...but not usps.

I had Something Similar happen to Me once, and I was Successful in Having the Package Re Directed Correctly,,,I Remember that I Needed the ORIGIN ADDRESS in order to Verify the Package,,,You might want to have that Handy,,,in case they ask you as well,,,,,Make sure that is the Right one,,,Most of those guys in China Use "Stealth" "Ship From" Addresses


That additional number IN FRONT gave you the Problem,,,You would have Most likley been ok if that additional Number was Behind the Last one Especially with something like a Dash in front of it 11213-6 as opposed to 611213

I called the post office and they said that once it hits "International Dispatch, September 24, 2010, 10:51 am, ISC NEW YORK NY(USPS)", that means it's being sent back to the sender.

Been trying to get in touch with the supplier but on ems's site, it still says "24 Sep 2010 10:51 UNITED STATES OF AMERICA USJFKA Arrival at Sorting Center" so they're not responding...needless to say I'm kinda ticked off. Guess I'm going to just open a dispute and request for a refund...there goes my funds being locked up for another 30 days...

DHL still not ok for pass us custom,be careful when ship the vero products from china.

About nine months ago it seemed like every EMS shipment to a zip beginning with 4 was landing in Chicago. Chicago customs was seizing every one of them. The shipper started using the tactic of inventing a zip code starting with 1 which caused the shipment to land in New York. That worked for a long time, as USPS just corrected the zip and forwarded it. Lately it seems that they are no longer fixing the zip, but just sending it back. So now we have a situation where shipments are getting through NY customs ok, but they aren't being delivered, just returned. What a headache.

I don't know why they want you to check your local post office. When I called mine, they said the recipient could not revise the incoming address. Only the shipper was allowed to make an address revision. I asked if there was anything that I could do to retrieve the package stalled in NY and was told no.

I checked with my Local USPS about my packages....
They both have been returned to sender.

Talked with my seller......
They have agreed to re-ship my items.
The package went out yesterday.
At first they wanted to wait until they received the original back.
After 10 minutes of me ranting and raving they saw it my way.

My supplier resent my package and it just sailed right through Clearance processing at CINCINNATI. Woo Hoo its been about a month since i had this in stock. WTF

It looks more and more like EMS packages arriving in NY with the wrong zip are just being returned to sender instead of being fixed. Not long ago a package would be routed to the incorrect zip where they would fix it and forward it. It seems that there has been a policy change on fixing zip codes. Has anyone heard anything?

I think that suppliers were using Ems during teh dhl raid but now taht it;s over teh right suppliers know how to use dhl right.

Major Hubs are where the customs work. These Hubs are where cargo gets dispersed to trucks more often than to another plane. Chicago is a biggy and then there are southern hubs that are big too. It's easier for customs to just watch the cargo boxes being thrown on a conveyor belt then to stop everything and do it. The east coast is like the last chance for them but most of it has been split up already. Almost anything shipped from the far east goes from left to right on a USA map.
DHL is small and shares hubs with EMS but the big boys like UPS and fedx build there own hubs to get things working faster for that lucrative overnight shipping and sometimes customs just doesn't care to spot check these hubs.

are you saying ups and fedex is better for this reason? I think allot suppliers use dhl because it's fairy fast compared to ems and chinapost and over 21 kg there is a discount.

DHL is VERY Cheap,,,Fedex and UPS are A LOT MORE Expensive,,,Thats why its Popular,,,

FEDEX is more expensive. But if you have an account, you get good discounts AND fast landing. Big plus:ranger:

Ok...to put a closure to all this, I finally received the customs seizure letter. So...I guess i can kiss my order good-bye. I was reading the letter and I noticed something strange though, in the listed quantity, it showed 225, however I only order 50pcs....makes me go hmmm....I mean do they count all my previous orders? Even so...I don't think the correct count is 225....What a buncha bone-heads...really makes me wonder wth they do there...

No they count each individual item as one.
Lets say that you ordered DVD box sets and each box of ? contained x number of DVD's.
They count the single DVD's and not the boxes they were in.

DHL customs is at it again. Had one shipment seized last week, and looks like another one will get seized this week. Currently showing Processing for Clearance, which more than likely means I will have to contact DHL. Anyone else starting to have this same problem??

I actually had the best experience with dhl last week ordered on monday from china arrived in NYC wednesday. Pretty much 1 day shipping my jaw dropped when i opened the door and see my package there. lol

yes, it's been very fast lately, however, a very experienced person I know said the crackdown will happen again very soon.

Oh What a Surprise! Package just cleared customs! Luck was on my side this time lol!

nice, Enigma. Mine was cleared last week but it was through EMS. It was stuck in customs for 3 days. Scared the #### outta me.

I had 4 DHL packages make it through Cincinnati last week / this week.

I have 1 more in Cincinnati right now.

I will see what it says tomorrow.....

I had a large package just come through Cincinnati last night/this morning. Ordered it on Monday and it should be sitting on my doorstep when I get home! Hope things continue to go smooth as I have 9 more packages that will be comnig by DHL in the next few days.
