Bank asking questions - worried
I have a old bank account which i havent touched in 3 years. This account had large amount of money pass through it from ebay sales. I have tried to close the account down a number of times and i have always been conned and it stays open.
They do this by saying i need to pay up the remaining balance to close it and then quote me a wrong amount so once its paid i am still slightly overdrawn. I think this has happened 2-3 times.
I just popped into the bank to open a basic account and finally close the old one. The advisor caught me by surprise with his questions. I stated that i earnt 20k a year doing what i do cos he wanted to know my annual salary (i lied, i am not earning currently). Asked why i needed a new account, again i panicked and said its because paypal stopped me trading on the old account from no fault of my own so i needed new direct debit details.
I could also see on screen all the debit cards i had reported lost over the years so i could open new ebay accounts. He rejected me for a current account (i didnt ask for this) and said i could open a basic cash card account.
Now this is very fishy looking from me. Is it possible or him to forward all this info or investigate himself or can i just forget about this. I'm ashamed to say i am slightly worried.
I didnt think opening bank accounts would be so hard |
