Why is Ebay eliminating the 3rd party checkout??
 

Hey, does anyone know what is Ebay up to by eliminating the 3rd party checkout? And does this effect Auctiva users?

Because it makes it Easier for Sellers to Sidestep Paypal,,,Ebay does Not want that,,,Nor will they EVER tell you the TRUE Reason,,,They will Give you some type of "Better Saftey and Security for the Ebay Community" BS

When is ebay eliminating the third party checkout? Does this mean you can only accept PayPal?

This excuse has been killed by them, im suprised they still use it lmao!

but yea, I believe they are stopping it because of money loss. When people sidestep paypal, they lose the transaction fee, and because EB & PP are so ****, losing customers etc, they need all the money they can get.

Ebay stopping 3rd party checkouts is an act of desperation IMO...

So we all stuck with Paypal..

The article says something about less than 10% of the eBay community uses 3rd party check-outs which is why they're removing it. Could be true and most likely is however, I doubt that's the only reason for removing them. I'm kind of interested in what's going to happen with those new merchant account gateway services they're adding.

I never used a merchant account myself but, maybe I'll give it a shot. They are adding Authorize.net and CyberSource to provide payment services. Still though, removing 3rd party payment services is a bummer. I liked Paymate a lot. Weird thing is Paymate mentions nothing of these new changes and they're still advertising on their main website that they've been integrated with eBay still.

Basically you have to use Ebay like a search engine. Once buyers find your auctions, you drive them away from ebay and drive them to your storefront or other preferred website for selling.

Wont this get you banned? Im sure ebay would not allow transactions outside of ebay lol

Just to clear up any confusion...

eBay is NOT eliminating 3rd party PAYMENT PROCESSORS, such as Paymate or your merchant account.

They are ONLY eliminating 3rd party checkout. There IS a difference. You should still be able to plug your merchant account (or Paymate/whoever else is authorized by eBay) into the eBay checkout process.

They have also been planning this for more than two years (at least that is how long the stories have been out there) and are only now getting ready to implement it.

Exactly right Jeff, everybody on this thread seems to be confused.

eBay is eliminating 3rd party CHECKOUT. Which is just the method buyers use to get to your PP, ProPay, Paymate, Moneybookers etc. account.

You can still use PP, ProPay, Paymate, Moneybookers etc. after June, you just can't use 3rd party CHECKOUT providers to get buyers to your payment processor.

The buyer MUST use eBay CHECKOUT as the link between eBay and your payment processor. So that means no Auctiva, Vendio, cartmanager etc.

Now on a related question. What about CCNow? or 2co? Should we just keep on trucking as is, or will eBay suspend users that require CCNow or 2CO???

SIDE NOTE: It must suck if providing checkout services to eBay sellers was your primary business.

Auctiva and Vendio and similar services will be ok as long as the Do Not allow you to "route" the Buyer to a Payment processor, Like Authorize.net, CCNow, Paymate, Even Paypal, This is All about Ebay Controlling How the Money Flows from Buyer to Seller, Without EVER LOSING Sight of it.

With a "3rd Party Chechout" the Money flows from EBAY to 3rd Party Chechout to ANYWHERE, (Authorise.Net, Google Checkout,Paypal, and Many Many More), well Ebay wants to Eliminate the "3rd Party Chechout" so they can See Directly who has the Payment.

There is a Bit more to it than what I have Posted here, But that is essentially it.

I just asked support and they said in june they are out, Auctiva. I hope whom ever I emailed to was misinformed.

EBAY--- 3rd party checkout---Payment processor, isn't that what you have in the first place? BIN, Auctiva, Paypal, it's over right? In June it's Ebay, Paypal or Ebay Propay or Paymate, Moneybookers etc...?

Might be too far in advance to ask, but will the stealth guide be updated with a work-around?

As a very prolific buyer I can tell you that many buyers HATE 3rd party checkouts with a vengeance. They are often slow and clunky - especialy channel adviser. They are simply one more lot of clicks. Moreover if the internet or your connection is slooooow you can find that it times out before ever you get to Paypal so its difficult to pay for your items.

I was staying with a friend who was on a sloooow dialup (this was before I got my lovely little netbook and dongle) and I found it impossible to pay for an item by said chanel advisor. I emailed the seller to ask her email address so I could pay direct from Paypal and she wouldnt give it to me - even though I explained the problem. I couldnt pay until 6 days later when I got home and then I managed it.

The seller got a neut and a 1 for communication.

Unless I really want the item I hit the back button whenever I see that the seller uses a 3rd party checkout.

Think Australia can use pay mate now as an accepted payment method instead of paypal. Haven't tried it yet tho.

Ccnow will not be effected by this change. I called them and they said their clients will not see any changes with the current ccnow process of eBay auction payments.

CCnow is a Payment processor,No?,,,,You Must Manually Send Invoices to your Buyers correct?
