New selling limit, 10 items allowed only

Hi all,

I am from singapore and recently i have encountered a situation whereby as a new seller i am only allowed to sell 10 items (Active Listing + Item Sold). According to ebay, they would automatically increase the limits as we build up a good selling history.

This is kind of disastrous as not all buyers leave feedbacks and how can we survive just by selling 10 items? Anyone encounter the same thing? Any idea what to do with it?

DAILYHUNDRED 10-06-2010 03:41 AM

I been hit with a 100 limit per month. Are you using Variations on your listings?

ibanez13 10-06-2010 04:49 AM

If it's 10 active and sold, what happens once you sell 10? Do they increase the limit as long as you get no complaints?

kirkie 10-06-2010 04:59 AM

100 limit is for private sellers, business sellers get more :)

You must have triggered something when you set your account up to trigger a 10 item limit.

Would being from Singapore trigger it?

Could be the reason, I'm not sure if anyone else from singapore has this problem?

jesseinkaron 10-06-2010 07:55 AM

I am in Thailand and I have the same thing..

Ebay has changed the way it deals with sellers in S.E.A. , Things are more difficult now.

I wonder how many feedback you need to have this lifted ?

JEM 10-06-2010 08:38 AM

you mean 10 per month no? if this is the case it is likely just until you build your FB

rsot 10-06-2010 09:34 AM

I would bet 20 DSR at least - 66% of your max withing month operation - effectively resulting in a 90 day "probation" period. What a lowball policy - aimed at avoiding fraud but hurts legit sellers ....no judgement on my part.

Easy. Use more accounts.

theinsanity 10-06-2010 12:06 PM

No variations. Yes 10 items per month, until further notice. -_-

I don't know how long do they take to lift the limit, but i actually tried building my own FB and it was worse, i got MC034 Feedback Manipulation, suspended for 30 days.

More accounts doesnt help when you can only sell 10 items and wait for their judgement on your account. =(

imjustme 10-06-2010 12:14 PM

The limit is automatically increased as you receive feedback from your sold items, and after 30 days you can list another 10 items. So after 2 months, you can have 20 feedback and you can list 20-30 items, then on the 3rd month you have 50 feedback and you can list 100 items, etc.

You can sell on 50 accounts, 10 items each, that's 500 items a month.

rsot 10-06-2010 12:20 PM

imjustme speaks the truth - alternate.

FandangoKango 10-06-2010 04:16 PM

I do everything in the us and I recommend you do the following if your overseas and limited to many things:

1. Open multiple accounts and spread out.
2. Think positive that money will come your way in your head.
3. Pray to your divine self that ebay goes excellent for you.

:)

alicialoh04237 10-07-2010 12:54 AM

Need help to clear things out. Firstly when you guys said 10 items per-month does this mean 10 different listings or this including the quantity as well?

For example you have only two listings and each listing has 5 in quantity so you already hit the limit?

Lastly once hit the limit 10 per month can some item be ended earlier(especially those with high quantity) then replaced with a new listing with fewer quantity so in general more different listings could be created? Will this reset the counter?

Thanks a millions!

DAILYHUNDRED 10-07-2010 03:32 AM

It means Quantity as well. So 1 listing with 10 colors that's all your able to list. My limit in the states is 100.

So what I do I just list 1 per size and as I sell i relist that size sold instead of listing 5 per each giving me more room to list different items

Zen 10-07-2010 06:32 AM

it not matter, limited 10 per account so u can create 10 account for 100 items.

isitworththestress 10-07-2010 06:47 AM

It will matter in those fields with bad competitors.

And what happens to NPBs do they count as a sale or would you be allowed to relist?

alicialoh04237 10-07-2010 10:53 AM

So guys since I have already hit the limit with just two listings because each has 5 in quantity...can I end them earlier and re-list them with fewer quantity so that I could spread out with more different listings? Thanks again!

imjustme 10-07-2010 11:01 AM

Yes. The limit is 10 items, SOLD and ACTIVE, not ended. So you can have:

3 Sold + 7 Active
1 Sold + 9 Active
8 Sold + 2 Active

etc.

In my opinion, this is how an eBay account should be run anyways. Sell 10 items, then let the feedback come in, then sell more. Nothing wrong with that. If you sell 100 items on a brand new account, you're bound to get suspended quite fast. This limit will actually help eBay sellers, trust me.

mosguy 10-07-2010 08:08 PM

so far sellers from S.E.A have this problem, how about US, CA and UK ?

Whats the limit for them?

May i know what kind of verification is needed for them? phone or ID or SSN Needed or others when you setup new seller account? Sellers from these countries, Please advice, thanks

DAILYHUNDRED 10-08-2010 05:50 AM

If you end your 10 listings now you wont be able to list again for 30 days. So just create multiple accounts or wait the 30 days. I know it sucks.

That counts as completed listings.

imjustme 10-08-2010 07:13 AM

Umm, not exactly. It's not about completed listings, it's about SOLD + ACTIVE. An ended listing would count as an UNSOLD listing.

alicialoh04237 10-08-2010 09:29 AM

Guys thanks for the answer...appreciate it. However can anyone else verify on this? Pratically tried before? I wouldnt want to risk canceling my 2 listings and later find that I cant list anymore and have to wait for 30 days long. Thanks!

mosguy 10-08-2010 09:50 AM

its depends, sometime can list, sometime cant, most of the time cant

but after a few days system refresh, u can list some again

rsot 10-08-2010 09:51 AM

imjustme speaks the truth and gives you good advice.

imjustme 10-08-2010 11:54 AM

There is an appeal process now for eBay sellers in Asia, where you can have eBay contact you, via telephone at a scheduled time, and then they will speak with you and see if they allow you to list 100 listings per month instead of 10. In my opinion, this is a bad idea. Especially if you list 'questionable' items. Even if you list totally legit items, it is a, I repeat, bad idea. You don't want eBay to look at your account, especially not if you're using stealth / bogus information.

Just stick with it, as I do with my Asian accounts. List 10 items, then move onto the next account, list another 10, etc. When you get feedback, come back to that account, list another 10, leave it alone again. Very soon you'll have 10-20 accounts with a lot of feedback, and they're worth a lot more than 1 account that is on eBay's radar.

I generally found over the years that the accounts which I built slowly, are much tougher to bring down than accounts I sold 100 items on in 1 month.

FandangoKango 10-08-2010 01:38 PM

I recently made some stealth accounts and after i listed an item i see where it shows new icons and i see your selling limit 10. So yea new people are being affected.

HurricaneHuntr 10-08-2010 07:56 PM

Yeah i see that icon, but i don't see a tally anywhere else, i probably sell less than 1 a day on an account anyway, so i'll find out in a couple weeks. unless people use buy it now like crazy

I sure am...

IDK 10-08-2010 10:28 PM

Cool. I move 2 items a week per account. Ebay is helping you sell slowly. How ironic. :pound:

mosguy 10-09-2010 01:25 AM

how about other country sellers now? Whats the limit ?

Strengthtoliveforever 10-09-2010 06:32 AM

Not all new seller have such limit

I am afraid that not all new seller have such limit. Only for the seller who sell branded stuff I think. And can anyone who have such issue state what item you sell and how you make a new account?

kyouichi 10-09-2010 10:44 AM

i think it depends on the category you are listing your item.

mosguy 10-09-2010 02:48 PM

normal no brand also have this limit, it doesn't matter brand or no brand

kyouichi 10-09-2010 03:16 PM

wonder why they limit us to 10 item while other countries besides asia gets 50

imjustme 10-09-2010 07:18 PM

The US now gets a limit of 10 too...not just Asia.

mosguy 10-10-2010 06:48 AM

how about other countries? please speak up

ar_123 10-10-2010 09:02 AM

The UK does.
