Default Is Changing Internal IP # enough???

Having a real problem figuring out how to change IP. Changed "internal IP", that look like 1xx.xxx.1.xxx to last three numbers xx3.
those changes show up on ip burger but the main IP stays the same.
Not sure if that is enough of a change, but don't seem to be able to change the other number! Is that enough of a change? tks, tmon

Are you using a cable modem or DSL? Are you using a router?

Try this:

1. Open MS-DOS.
2. Type ipconfig /release and hit ENTER.
3. Wait 3-5 seconds.
5. Type ipconfig /renew and hit ENTER.

Check to see if that worked. If not, try restarting your router, that should give you a new IP (almost) every time.

Your ISP might have a Static IP assigned to you. Try calling them and asking them about giving you a dynamic IP.

I think I've got the same setup as you.

Just go to 192.168.1.1 in your browser that should take you to your Linksys setup.

Type admin as your password which should be the default. You can leave the user name blank.

Once inside the router setup you should see MAC address clone in the Setup tab

Change the last two letters/numbers in the user defined entry, if it's something like C5 change it to C6 or whatever you want. Clink save settings.

You'll lose your internet connection. Now go to your modem, unplug it for 10 seconds and plug it back in. Do the same for your Linksys router, unplug for 10 and plug it back in.

Once everything is reset, you should have a new IP address.

Yours is dynamic but it's a long lease. Can sometimes be very difficult to change. I'll look for the definitve thread for you.

It is doable

I suggest you get a cable modem, and lose the router. In order to run a flawless operation you need to be able to retain the IP to switch between accounts. To my knowledge you can't through a router. If you got more than one PC, just get multiple routers. It costs a little more, but it's worth not having the hassle, and less chance of screwing up.

Some DSL company have dynamic IP but it won't change at all. I have AT&T U-ver (spell) and the IP never change for two years, have call them like 20 time to get help to no go :-) I unplug the modem or 2 days still would change at all. I gave up and order a cheapest Cable to do eBay stuff and the ATT for downloading :-)

You are not using a router to change macs/IP? What are you doing with cable modem to get/control IPs?
