Cant verify Bank account!! Please help

I just made a paypal account. When i try to link my bank account to it, it says that this bank account has already been used. Im pretty sure i have never linked this bank account to any paypal accounts. Can i link a bank account with with a different name to the paypal but with the same last name? Will the bank accept payments from paypal if they see a different first name but the same last name?

Yes you should be fine just link it.

Can anyone verify this? I just want to be sure.

I suggest you REREAD the stealth book. So many people ask this and I don't know why, It clearly explains this. Paypal CANNOT see the name on the bank account!

Depends on the bank. Some are OK with it, others are not.

However, their message regarding the account already being used is cause for concern. Are you ABSOLUTELY SURE that you have never used it before?

If it were me, I'd get a different bank account, but I'd also start over with PayPal. But that may be overkill. Hopefully, someone else will chime in.

There is the greatest potential for (future) troubles. To be certain to be successfully stealth LINK is the most dangerous thing to do.

I go with Jeff and I go with lakeman. And no I'm not nuts. here's my reasoning.

lakeman is correct. This is said many times that paypal does not see the name of bank accounts. That's great if this is the 1st time that bank account has been applied to a paypal account.

BUT here's the catch, and this is where jeff is accurate. paypal has given you a message ' account used'. It's like that line 'Warning, Warning, Will Smith.' Are you going to endanger the account now by linking? Is the account tarnished by association. Since it is, then you might be better to go with another paypal account and bank.

Asking if banks accept different names for transfers is like asking the length of a piece of string. Overall they dont and if you can give a reasonable excuse, there is seldom a problem. But if you are doing a high volume of transfers & trigger anything within the bank's security guidelines, then you have to expect troubles..
where does that leave you?

I agree, you need to start fresh with a new PayPal account. As of now they have you linked by your bank account which most likely you used with another PayPal account already.

New bank account + New PayPal is needed.

Moving on..
