Well, looks like he didn't bother responding to the lawsuit.

Of course that'll default as a win for BBody

When you are sued, and you don't show up (or send your attorney) to court, the plaintiff wins by default. Usually the judge gives them the amount requested. I'm sure that the attorneys for Beach Body calculated their damages in a way that was most advantageous to them.

More than 80% of judgments are never paid. Odds are the guy who got caught will file for bankruptcy. I doubt that even if you added up every dime he ever made in his entire life, it would not amount to $2.1 million.

But I'm sure that Beach Body never had any illusions that the judgment would be paid. Their goal was to send a message that if you sell counterfeits of their products, they WILL come after you.

Bottom line is, if you decide to sell counterfeits, you take this type of risk. There is no such thing as easy money.

This is crazy lol. I have sold p90x on ebay and never received a letter. I sold about 50 sets, then when I started reading about the lawsuits I made sure to take the auctions down. I use to take my own pics, and blur out most of the words on the box. When a buyer would send me a message and asked why is the box so blurry, I would tell them that my cell phone didn't take very good pics. They sue for copyright infringement, so if they can't see there logo, I guess they can't sue. Who really knows.

So looks likes poor bachelor couldn't be reached, shoot he's probably somebody on this forum lol can a stealth person even be sued? you would think they would need to verify you are who you are first.

I doubt they would pass judgement on his stealth name, probably was his real name I mean I would assume the court would be smart enough to verify whether its the right person or not.. lol

Might sound harsh, but it's his own fault imo. Didn't do enough research, I mean if you're still trying to sell P90X. You either should have the system down entirely or be reckless and stupid enough take the risks head-on.

Not worth it for the profit anyways, there are far more profitable items you can find that are not such a pain to sell. Even when I first dabbled in the replica game I wasn't stupid enough to sell the P90X. Now that I know the system well enough to most likely be able to get away with it (for a short time at least), I STILL wouldn't do it.

I had a lawsuit against me a few years ago but the lovely Johnson Firm out in LA.
ALL they had was my stealth information.
They DID in fact file the lawsuit against my screen name.

The Judge threw the lawsuit out of court because they basically filed it against a ghost.

It was pretty damn funny to read about it through the court postings.

Courts don't do anything more than they have to. It's up to the person filing the lawsuit to have all the correct information

It really doesn't matter what the judge files in civil court if the judgment cannot be collected. This doesn't mean beach body was given a check.....

Good the fella avoided jail, however.

One foofoo p90x - 47.99
One civil judgment - 2.1 million
Being free out of jail - Priceless

Why would he go to jail anyway if it's only a civil matter?

Well he wouldn't

The only time someone can go to jail in a civil matter is if they violate a court order, such as with a restraining order for example. It's not often with counterfeiting there is a civil judgment only.
