all docs required on brand new account-worth it?

This is ridiculous. I had an account suspended right after registering it. I used a VCC I paid for here. I finally got the guts to call ebay since they haven't replied to my emails for the past 9 days and the woman on the phone told me I have to send in a copy of my license, recent utility bill and credit card statement from the card I put on ebay (the VCC). She made it a point to specify that they need the credit card statement to make sure I am who I say I am. Mind you this is a paid VCC...for awhile now I've accepted the fact that MC115's are "random" but I found this really odd since I originally guessed that this happened because of the VCC.

Anyways, this post isn't asking for opinions on the VCC, I was just wondering if it's even worth doing all this for a brand new account or if I should just move on? None of this is real information so it's going to take some hard work to get what they're asking.

I would have no idea how to even start...I can't believe all this is needed for an account that was an hour old.

SaiJin 02-03-2011 01:13 AM

Starting over is actually quicker. You have nothing to lose from this previous account.

kris 02-03-2011 03:37 AM

Honestly, every account I have opened since the new year has been hit with the MC115. (If it matters, each account was opened with a VCC). Each time, I replied to the email, and received no response. Then I called and they requested docs. I made and sent the docs, and (although on a few occasions I had to call again after sending the docs) within another week, EVERY account has been restored. I say it is most DEFINITELY worth it.

All my recent accounts are hit with MC115 and it is because the VCC. I listened to Kris and called paypal, and they flat out told me that they do not want a VCC on paypal. I must add a real credit card. The guy was pushy on the phone and I was waiting for him to ask for docs, but he was adamant about adding a real credit card to lift the restriction.

RedDevilŽ 02-03-2011 05:13 PM

You didnt tell him it was a real card? why?

relentless 02-04-2011 01:11 PM

they know the difference

imjustme 02-04-2011 03:21 PM

They can't know the difference, but they can know if a VCC provider is blacklisted. Usually it's the first 6 digits of the VCC that are blacklisted.

ive had this, but only on a u.s account, opened from the uk. emailed docs whilst speaking to live help, and the account was unlimited straight away (went down a couple of months later, but thats another story)

was opened with vcc and stealth

the common factor here is vcc

stevesokol21 02-06-2011 11:49 AM

why do u even add a card on ebay when you can just link the paypal account you are using with that account to your ebay account and dont even have to worry about adding anything to ebay? once you link it and set everything up so it pays fees out of paypal you are all set. you only need the VCC in paypal and not for both. its way easier this way.

veggiegymrat 02-06-2011 12:59 PM

steve, most of us don't want our PP linked to our ebay. It's not easier in the end.

IDK 02-06-2011 06:24 PM

Without reading all the replies I can confirm that DOCS will be mandatory on EVERY new sellers account at some point. Reason? They are hip to the stealth game, and they want to cover their own backs against lawsuits. It's no different than when you go to an adult site and you sometimes have to enter in your age, or say that you are of age... It's not their job to hunt you down and verify your age. They just have to prove that they asked, and you responded. So is it worth it? Yes. You can start over as many times as you want. The results will be the same. Once you start making moves, ebay will limit you and require verification so if you have a means to "get around it" take advantage. There is nothing more you can do "next time"... It's not random, or "triggered" it's standard practice.

Just a Note

Since you dont actually exist, an answer of "None of the above" by default must return good.. lol Let them MC010... They will never ask for full doc.... full doc for an auction account?! are you fin nutz... Do you know the massive undertaking that would require?! Let them put all of their rulez in place. Until they are ready to spend HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS OF DOLLARS every year they will never be able to require everyone send Id's and other docs in.. they have millions upon millions of members, new members probably range in the 30-40k a day mark or more (just a guess).. It would be bad business especially for a publicly traded company...IMO
