Default PayPal EIN Solution is Dead

I know there was some debate as to whether we can get away with using a EIN number instead of a SSN now with the new laws and rules.

I contacted paypal with the following question

"Can I use an EIN in the place of a SSN if i have a business
paypal account? I do not wish to use my SSN for security purposes. So i
would like to know whether a SSN is mandatory when using paypal to
accept payments? or will a EIN suffice"

I got the following response

"Dear XXXXX,

I am more than elated to inform you that can add your EIN to your PayPal
account but it will not be a qualifier for the intentions of lifting the
withdrawal limit.

If you are unable to confirm your Social Security number, please follow
the easy steps below in order for us to manually complete the
verification process.

1. Print this page.
2. Verify your address: Attach EITHER a current utility bill showing
your address or a copy of your driver's license. Please ensure that this
address matches the address on file with your PayPal account.
3. Verify your identity: Attach EITHER a copy of your social security
card or a current pay stub showing your full social security number.

If you do not have access to either of these documents, you can go to
your local Social Security Office and request a letter (that they will
date, sign, and stamp) verifying your Social Security Number. We will
also accept a W-2, or Form 1099."

No, be more circumspect in their preparation.

It's not a matter of getting away with the EIN.

Think outside the square

Yes, there was some speculation that you may be able to get a no restriction paypal account with an EIN and not have to use a SSN.

SSN is still needed, so multiple stealth accounts is still the way to go
