IP change - PC fails to connect

Manually changing my IP even by one last digit made the system fail to connect to the internet. I am failing to discover how everyone else is successful. I read here that router manipulation is difficult, plus I am not a tech savvy girl.

I had the same issue, and kind of still due. Did you unplug your router/modem for one minute and plug it back in after the MAC change?

pinkmilk 02-11-2011 05:42 PM

No I didn't. I just learned about that part. I am still experimenting, I have a lot to learn yet. I thought that the router ip MAC was like apple/mac. ok doy.

I would love to be one of those people who is up and running in a few hours but I want to take it slow and do it right this time. I need a mochachino and a midol and I will be fine lol. I really do want to be as super stealth as possible this time because ebayis way more intense with this cross tracking than I ever suspected.

What connection are you using? DSL, Cable, Fiber Optic, satellite?

I have over 10+ Netgear routers and pull different ip's for all my accounts... Netgear is super easy to use... and u can pick them up for like 18 bucks refurbished on eb. Log into the router.... type http://192.168.1.1 Go to Basic settings... Hit use this mac address.... Chane the last digit.... Unplug your modem and reset.... unplug your router and reset... Will pull new ip... go to ipburger.com to check your ip address. :D

You have to change your router MAC and MUST restart your cable modem.
