Good find. I stumbled upon a similar deal offered at Canada Post - only problem is the activation fee is RIDICULOUS at $15.

Thanks! | Does this mean that the prepaid card can therefore be used as both "bank account" - for withdrawls....and "credit card"- for credit cards?

Nope cannot be used as a bank account - only as a credit card. You have to reload at designated counters...now if you find out it DOES accept direct payroll deposits, then we can get cracking =)
Doubt it though.

Not for Canada - seems like on Pa yp al.ca you can ONLY withdraw to bank - not even check =(. I don't know of a Canadian prepaid card that works like a bank - U.S. has a few (you can prob use these for Canada if you keep funds in U.S.) but maybe other people with more knowledge will chime in.

Ok, so here is what i pulled off.
I purchased the reloadable visa from Money Mrt. Loaded a hundred dollars on it. To get it they require a piece of ID, fair, but then when i got home I called in to have my "billing" address updated. I updated it to the rental PO box I set up yesterday. So when I registered the credit card with PP, the address matched the card and tada. Perfect. Moreover, the PO box place gave me a physical address rather than a PO #.
Now, when you get the reloadable card, the piece of paper on the inside of the envelope denotes a bank name, transit number, institution number, and account number. So I went to PP and added a new bank account using this information. Will be checking the online reloadable visa statement to check for PP deposits. If it works (and i will let you all know right away), then this card doubles as both VISA, AND bank account. What a sweet find that will be if it pans out.
I love this forum!!!

@gmcenvoy - all I can say is wow if you have found this. The bank name and transit number and account number are the kickers. IT would look like you found something decent to act as a bank account for deposit.
What are the costs to this card? Definitely keep us posted. Hope it works well.
If you can, PM me the name of this Visa - things work a little differently in my province as we don't have Money Mart per say ha - some equivalent i am sure.
Edit: Think I found the Visa to which you were referring on the money mart site. Good stuff.

I will let you know as soon as I see the two PP deposits. If so, this is going to make multiple accounts insanely easy to acquire. One money mart card = VISA and BANK ACCOUNT....and NO problem to call the card company to add whatever the heck you want as your billing address. A word of caution...the billing address you provide to the reloadable card company must match EXACTLY letter for letter, punctuation, spaces, etc... as you input on PP when verifying the card. The reloadable card company will even email to you exactlt as THEY have on their system...to make your verification easier. splendid.
I have a standard bank account ready to add should this other fall through.

Something I experienced with money mart prepaid cards when they had Mastercard cards, is that these cards don't accept direct deposits if the amount is under $10.
This way, the cards wont work with PP deposits ($0.xx) .
If the same requirements are for these Visa Cards, there will be a problem (The card will reject PP deposits). It's good to ask for this before to buy/load the card if you are planing to use it as a bank account

these visas they have are a brand new product. they are not the same as anything they have sold in the past. we'll see in the next day or two whether or not it works.

Only if they allowed Canadian banks to be used on amazon.com, sigh.
