www.somethingebay.com

Can you register and maintain a website with address taht contain ebay in it.. Like www.somethingebay.com or blahblahebay.com?

For example, this website.. www/ebaysuspension/com with aspkin creating forums there instead of here?

And if you can, will they try to stop you? In other words can you get in trouble if you do?

I want to provide software related to eBay and preventing accounts from being suspended by eBay.

topazcorp 02-28-2008 01:35 PM

Yes you can, they may want to shut you down but the only way they can do it is by buying your website so as long as you don't let them buy you...

Mr_Wolf 02-28-2008 01:45 PM

Can they sue me?

Let's take this website and aspkin for example..

If he has created www/ebaysuspensionforums/com, would eBay sue him?

mantisinc 02-28-2008 01:56 PM

They sure can sue you. Google have already threatened legal action on several people with "google" in the domain name. Ebay is a trademark of that company, and the name belongs to them.

If ebay didn't like what you were doing, they would have grounds to sue you. Just look on DP for some related threat regarding google.

Mr_Wolf 02-28-2008 02:21 PM

I see, that's the advice I'm getting from laywers..

What about in page title? Here we have eBay in the page title..

ivegotinfo 02-28-2008 04:37 PM

whoa.. lol
that sucks quite a lot then
so i better not develop my ebaystealth.com domain that i just got a few days ago then?

aspkin 02-29-2008 01:08 AM

I have a few domains with good 'ebay suspension' keywords in them that forward to this site. But I have noticed ebay has a few of those domains as well or someone else, that forwards to eBay?

Mr_Wolf 02-29-2008 06:45 AM

So, I'm thinking, get somethingebay/com, do what I want, then if **** hits the fan, get a new domain.

koalawash 03-01-2008 01:47 AM

If they could sue for that, wouldn't paypalsucks have gone down a long time ago?

uuhh, can you give us more details of this software ?
sounds interesting...

mantisinc 03-02-2008 12:35 PM

Sounds silly to me, there is no such thing as a software that can prevent your account from being suspended.
