You ran out of stock and still tried to sell - not a good move. Tell the buyer that you had emergency, some stock got ruined, so you are getting proper replacement.

If your selling a free item or low value basiclly first get buyers contact number.
Once you got the number give him a call and bribe him he will remove it

Contact them and strike a deal, if it means taking a loss to get negative feedback removed then it should be worth it.

I have done it in the past.

Is it something you can just go purchase locally and send it to them. The loss cant be that much really. I have done this in the past. so you take a $20 or so loss. who cares !!! You got to do what you got to do.

^ Yeah, that was what I was leaning towards with my first post. It is a suitable method that could be work in this situation.

First of all, I laughed at whoever changed the title of this thread. Second of all, why not refund his purchase? Or, did you already spend the money he sent you before you knew you ran out of stock?

Ya I certainly can't say the person is 'intolerant' I'd be ticked too if my money was sent to you and then you say its out of stock. Hopefully this is a big lesson learned.

A buyer who is content and doesn't leave feedback is better than one who you blow off and let leave negative feedback.

I did refund him. I have not spent there money its just people should not be able to leave negative for these pathetic reasons. It ruins a sellers feedback in 1 stupid long shot.

I do agree with you when you say that one buyer can basically ruin you. I had an account that had 50 positive feedback and was at 100% for everything, and then one buyer complained over something I fixed for him and still felt the need to post negative feedback.

Within 48 hours I got a selling restriction from ebay =/

I wish these buyers had some live auction I would love to buy the item and pay for it then wait a few days and leave a negative see how they like it.

I ran out of stock and I didn't sell anymore. I didnt put any more auctions after the sale. I really did run out of stock. I even made excuses that I had an emergency and loss of family lol, but some punks just don't give a f^^^.

I'm sorry but maybe I'm not getting this right.

I go to your page and I buy one of your widgets. I pay you and now I'm all excited because my new widget will be arriving in the post shortly - That's my side of the equation.

You've got my money, you've got me excited about my new widget and then you say "sorry .... no can do ...... have your money back"

First of all what were you doing selling things you couldn't supply?

Second - why are you surprised that your customer is hacked off?

Third - Why are you in business if you cannot run a business in a professional manner?

Fourth - You sound like you are the aggreived party when in reality you induced the buyer to part with their money and then did not live up to your side of the bargain - no matter what the excuse is.

Sorry OP - you deserved everything you got.

^ Some good leading questions there GT.

I have done a similar thing as the OP though a few times in the past, things like listing the quantity above what I actually had by mistake etc

I simply sourced the product individually from within the UK, struck a deal with the buyer at a srummy reduced price and like magic, feedback removed and buyer happy. Took a loss but the account was in better standing after it.

Excellent - problem solved - but did you blame the buyer for being upset? While I fully appreciate that everyone makes mistakes and we all get it wrong sometimes we do reap what we sow. When you are taking money off of people we are not doing them favours - we are doing business.

I've said in other threads about what I have sold and I have always ensured that I leave the customer happy. Maybe because my offline business interests demand it. I can't very well deliver rotten eggs can I?

It's a bummer when a buyer doesn't act as we want them to - but does that make them idiots? In my view business would be a lot easier if the punters would just send me the money but sadly it aint like that.

In my view the OP cannot be surprised at what has happened and needs to eat a bit of umble pie with the buyer and get the neg removed.
