Never! I keep them forever. I dont rely on the likes of the Post Office etc to 'prove' anything. I have their 'receipt' as physical proof for any claims. You have their legal receipt. They need to confirm it rather than say we have no record.

This gets back to having to deal with buyers who may be 'orrible
Dont forget, credit card chargebacks can be done up to 180 days after a transaction.
paypal have been 'conned' into attempting to take action after sales are finished.

It is better to take that preventive action & retain receipts (of any type)

It gives YOU credibility in disputes when you flash the copied receipt to support your side of the story.

I agree with GB. KEEP everything. How much room does it take to keep a few Post office receipts? The IRS wants paper when getting audited anyway. From what I got from a friend that got audited for online sales the USPS and paypal printouts were not good enough to satisfy them for the shipping deductions he was trying to get.

Not sure of all the details but something about them not being detailed enough.

Anyay, just keep them. Its a much safer bet.

as for the comment on paypal shipping?? Yes we are all aware of that but it doesn't go back very far if you get and audit anyway. even if they do take them.

Damn, when was that? Pa yP al offers some very detailed reports now that can be printed out for proof of all of your sales and expenditures.

I use to months ago. Now I just go to the post office and ship stuff with actual money. I just prefer it that way.
