eBay are insane!

Hey all,

So been working through creating several stealth accounts on different machines with different broadbands etc.

I wanted to kick off the seller account on one so I went throughout the process of verification, added bank and CC all the usual (haven't confirmed bank or sent in proof of ID yet) I listed an old XBox game I had, auction starting at £5. At the same time I stared buying some cheap crap from china to get some FB about 6 items under £1.

The account is about a week old.

Logged in today and the account has been suspended!! Thankfully not linked to my old account but it seems eBay were not happy that I was selling a game and thought it was high risk!

Thankfully it was not the regular suspended message, but one asking for proof of ID and proof I owned the game.

I spoke with them on live chat and they said the same thing, so hopefully I can get the account back!

How is anyone able to sell on eBay anymore when they are so so so strict on what you list? What is wrong with me opening an account and selling a game!

I know I should prob have send in ID etc before, but I mean come on a £5 game!!

There's your reason.


You're selling items in £s but you are showing your location in the US??? The requirements to successfully sell on Ebay.co.uk are different to ebay.com. Using the correct country flag on your profile will mean you'll get better advice.

The reason for your suspension is the bank account not being verified.

I understand that I should have confirmed my bank first, but it just seems so strict for an item which I would classify as low risk, and low price!

I can't image everyone starting up on eBay and selling their items would wait around for a week to get everything verified first?

I know I am preaching to the converted, but it is just so hard!

I remember selling on eBay 12 years ago when you didn't even need to give them payment details, they would just bill you at the end of the month and hope you pay them! You could even send them a cheque! Oh how times have changed.

The reason I am struggling is that I have just lost about 4 accounts which were around 4-5 years old, so I never suffered with any of these teething problems before!

According to the '' ebay mad genius logarithim'', an old XBOX, buying cr*p from China for feedback combo AND no verified paypal on any one's account means suspension. ebay perceives risk. (Stupid but that is ebay).
XBOX has a possibility of not working, buyer dispute. Whole scenario is blighted. You lose (for the moment)

Good for you! Also bear in mind, ebay have an evil twin named paypal....

Approach this game with the idea to beat them.

Try, if you can, to NOT do anything, B4 running it passed the forum 1st. It's much easier for us to help to sort the problem than help to dig you out after the fact...if you get my drift

So just thinking about the next few months. I have in mind that eBay an Paypal will keep a closer eye on you for the first 90 days of your account becoming a seller (I don’t think they care how long you have been a buyer for) that is why I have been activating the seller account ASAP after opening it - I assume that is the right thing to do?

What do you think about selling limits? On my old account I could easily make £1000 week on high prices items (around £100 each) and I was hoping to get back to that amount, but I know it will take me time. Would you say it is best to leave the account for 30 days as a seller, make sure all verified and ID sent in, then sell 1 item per week, increase to 2 items after a few week then 3 after a month and so on, and eventually after a few months I will be back to speed?

It seems Paypal like you to gradually bring in money an increase it, does that make sense or is that still too fast?

Activating sure but selling right away? I am not keen on that idea - I favour buying few things, building an account up them dabbling in sales.

Start slow and get your account set up with eb ay. Same with pa yp al.

Apologies if I am not specific but you can't be with these 2 platforms - experiment and see what works is best idea. Plus reading around for other folk's experiences helps a lot.

I have been thinking that too, is there a way of activating the selling account without attempting to list something? The only way I have found to activate it to attempt to list something, guess at the end of the process you just don't submit the listing, is this the best way?

Going slow might've been a good way last year, but with the increasing enforcement of selling limits, it's time for a new approach. What's the point of nurturing an account for 90 days just to find out you have the 10/500 limit and its side effects?

Go back to the primary premise of steal th. You want to blend in like another eB user. Would Joe Schmo list anything in the test category? Would he start selling the same day as eB account creation, before PP is confirmed and verified? Think ppl, think!

If done correctly, you can easily withdraw thousands the first month, build a nice feedback profile and increase your credibility with PP. If you screw up, it's just one account, and you didn't waste months buying crap you don't need.

How would you go about downloading thousands in the first month and still stay under the radar? Any tips you could give would be great! PM if you prefer!

The prob I have is that my old accounts were like 4-5 years old and I thought they were untouchable, these new rules make no sense to me!

I realise they are just trying to protect the buyers, but it seems even normal activity gets suspended these days!

I'm in the same situation as you. I've got a nice stealth account up and running, 4 months old, 100+ feedback, everything verified etc.

So last weekend I thought it's about time I started making a bit of money again.

I sold £500.00 worth of stuff, all fairly low risk items, then the next day PP limit my account ! ! !

Usually, and going on previous experience, that's the end of that. In the past I've spent hours sending them all the stuff only for them to shut me down regardless. Waist of time.

However, after discovering this forum, I took the advise from some of the posts and Called PP. In fact, I have now called them 4 times, and they even called me from USA. I'm actually starting to think they may even un-limit me !!!

Anyway, the thing is, you can wait for 3 or 4 months and still get in trouble.

I dunna how most people do it but I find it the safest and trouble free if you open an ebay account.....go thru the site like you dont know what your doing. Maybe bid or wait to bid on something for a day. They buy a few things not just under a $1 either some $3-4 stuff. Then just happen across some ebay seller basics and venture out from there....open a seller account. if you must sell immediately sell something completely NON risk. And only sell one thing...Ideally wait...open the seller and wait. Then SLOWLY list a few things. And dont stop occasionally buying something. Even if you dont get it cause its a different address buy occasionally. works for me...so far
