MC999 Your eBay account is restricted

I just opened a new seller account with stealth information. but the moment I listed my first item I got hit with MC999.

"Thanks for selling on eBay. It's important that we speak with you about recent activity on your account. Your listings have been removed until we can talk with you.To prevent your account from being closed, please contact us within the next 48 hours.
We appreciate your help verifying your account as quickly as possible and welcome you as a member of our community.""

What happened? because they didn't mention any links to any banned ids?

yellow0102 07-25-2011 11:14 PM

Did you list ⊗⊗⊗⊗ or vero items on that account?

sarah74 07-26-2011 12:29 AM

No I only listed a battery for cell phone. And when I called in I failed the id test pulled from public records.
Now they are saying to fax over the id etc.
Also the ebay agent told me that All new sellers go through this procedure now...is this true? how to avoid

gipper 07-26-2011 05:06 AM

Selling in anything related to electronics would be a bad idea. Also, I had the same thing happen to me as far as the "you need to speak with us...listings have been removed", so eBay might indeed be doing it more frequently now.

rsot 07-26-2011 02:32 PM

Highly dependent on category - electronics, software, etc.

biohazard 07-26-2011 03:29 PM

On a new seller account like that I normally buy .99 cent website links to establish as a buyer, 30 of them before I start selling. After buying 30 times, wait about 14 days then list your item for sale. Not saying this will do the trick, but it may take you off the radar a bit.

EBAYBLOWS and
PAYPALBLOWS

sarah74 07-27-2011 04:27 AM

what category would be relatively 'low risk'?
also I don't think aspkin's book discusses any of these current issues like phone verifcation etc.

GreenBean 07-27-2011 05:09 AM

If the book does not address the issues ( but it does), the forum has the up to date issues being discussed.

A reading of threads in most cases supplies answers :peace:

Sell old clothes, shoes and old tools from the garage. Sell the junk from electronics like plugs, old tracfones or old toys from the attic. People like getting stuff in the mail for a buck or two.

rsot 07-27-2011 09:44 AM

I am finding hard to move these "crap" stuff unless I offer free shipping - Hercules, any tips you have to offer?

Hercules 07-27-2011 12:04 PM

Don't sell crap. Sell one step beyond crap. Sell old rock record albums. You can buy them in the 'lots' area. Or buy wholesale cheap costume jewelry. If it's large chunky jewelry with excellent photos you can get a good chunk of money if you research how to list it. See what others are saying to make them look and seem precious.

GrannyT 07-27-2011 12:06 PM

If its just account building Lumberjack offer free shipping - it's what we have to do now.

:pop2:

rsot 07-27-2011 12:51 PM

Good point on the jewelry Herc - maybe spice it up a bit too - yes GTran, seems to be the way the big sellers do it (the Asian ones selling the low stuff ha)

sarah74 07-28-2011 02:30 AM

But that is what I was selling when I got hit with ID Verification.
I was selling a battery cover.I called in and obviously failed the public records questions.

It's getting past the 1st (temporary) suspension that has to be worked out.

Even a battery cover could make ebay react.:juggle:

jbluntz 07-28-2011 03:55 AM

Mc999 usually has to do with being linked to another account and even accounts using same info can get it, I got one the other day after selling on a second ebay linked to same paypal with same info/ip etc. I'm still selling on the first one though.

GreenBean 07-28-2011 04:01 AM

@jb, was this 2nd account made later than the 1st account? :spy:

jbluntz 07-28-2011 04:23 AM

Yes it was, I always make the first one first and the second one second :pop2:

GreenBean 07-28-2011 05:12 AM

No!!! Imagine that.
Was the 2nd account made the same day as the 1st account, same time-ish. Be serious :boink:

jbluntz 07-28-2011 05:28 AM

Actually this one was made almost a month later than the first one just didn't feel like calling them up and that's serious :P

GreenBean 07-28-2011 05:43 AM

OK, thanks for that.

Need that info. Plan changes again from ebay

Mine got hit with MC999 within 2 hours of listing a golf club, a shaver and an old carburetor on eBay motors. Thought this would be a safe mix but I guess not! Account was only active about 5-6 days prior to listings.

I'm 99.99% sure this account is not linked since I was EXTREXTRA careful in following stealth. I think I logged onto a computer about a hundred miles from the registered city too, would that be a problem?.

What should I expect if I call and "speak to eBay" as they had requested?

Golf gear is extremely high risk, believe or not.

newjerseymax 07-30-2011 11:09 PM

I got hit with MC999 also today. I have plenty of stealth accounts and stating that its because account is linked is not issue because they will tell you if it is. They dont have reason to dance around the truth. I had my account for 45 days. Only purchased items. Created lots of browsing history, even went through help pages. I babied the account like all others. Attempted to sell a coupon. As low risk as it gets and wham limited. I called for verification and failed. Agent told me same thing ive seen posted many times. This is and will be standard procedure. I think its about time to accept that it will happen 99% of the time. Now I am gonna try to wait 60 days. If that dont work 90 days. Keep trying!

jbluntz 07-30-2011 11:29 PM

Yeah sometimes they tell you you're linked to another user with mc999 and sometimes they don't but mc999 is the one they send when they do tell you when you're linked from what I've seen.

I got hit with this one to. How u fail? Did u answer none of above for all? I did that plenty of times and passed.

happycustomer 08-04-2011 03:15 AM

I find all the talk about "this is going to start happening all the time" to be terrifying.

Therocksays25 08-04-2011 06:30 AM

Well are u guys using someone real info or ⊗⊗⊗⊗ information. I use ⊗⊗⊗⊗ information and say none of above and pass all the time.

HurricaneHuntr 08-04-2011 09:47 AM

I haven't been able to even get them to ask me questions on the last 3 just straight " send id and utility bill" so it's getting tougher. We need to recruit some Photoshop experts for id's... utility bills are ez... it's the damn photo id's that are tough with all the background crap. Gonna ask my sister, she's good at photoshop. The guys good at it, can do it in 10 mins.. Which is why those who charge so much are insane. Just practice i guess? and No MS paint won't work LOL

newjerseymax 08-05-2011 06:31 AM

I tried the None of Above and still failed so that is not fool proof. Also yes MS Paint does work. :bounce:

ortiz1973 08-07-2011 10:50 PM

did you fax document to them? How to creat ID or passport in photoshop?Im in the same trouble.

itsjappo 08-10-2011 01:27 PM

just got hit with this today. did all the stealth methods for about a month. bought coupons, got 8 feedback. sold a ps3 game last week. and finally started listing 5 items last night. they were all golf accessories but not branded items. aftermarket accessories. got hit this morning when i woke up. now they want me to contact them in 48 hours. i guess for the id test. what to do? Im scared lol .

lil.liz 08-12-2011 04:04 PM

go to market place "accounts for sale"
I have a few of them works fine

newjerseymax 08-13-2011 10:28 AM

I was able to re-instate the account with MC999. So I don't believe that Linking is sole reason for MC999.

Also, I got a MC999 on another account and when I called they said it was because my item was listed as private and this feature is reserved for "other types of accounts"....

Hmmmm

lil.liz 08-13-2011 05:56 PM

so .is there anynone know what MC999 is ?

bestvipz 08-13-2011 11:29 PM

Yes MC999 is part of the linking to your previous eBay account with the same PP. When I first get the PP and eBay account and start selling. I don't get MC999 until some violations. Once you got MC999 on one account with the same PP. You will get MC999 when you are trying to list your first item using the same PP account with your new eBay account. They got this linked info from your PP

unkown5454 08-14-2011 02:38 AM

MC999 is used for dozens of warnings. It is not just for linking.
