Default Paypal and SSN?

Hello everyone.....

I am planning on becoming a new person in ebay/paypals eyes and opening a new ebay/paypal account again. My question is what do I do when paypal asks for an SSN to confirm my identity?

Thanks in advance.....

The only way around this I've seen is contacting Paypal letting them know you don't feel it's safe to give out your SS# and that you would like another option to verify. You have to be somewhat persistent about it, but I've seen this work more then a few times now. Good luck.

P.S. Be sure to verify and confirm your Paypal account before using it with eBay. If you're in the US you can use ING.com banking and simon.com gift accounts to do this. You usually won't be ask for a SS# until you reach $1000-$1500 per day sales.

I only List items to end on 4-5 days of the week, So if i only get like 600-800 dollars in sales a day then i should be safe from giving my ssn#?

So i can open like 3 different ebay account and verify all of them and only have like $300 in sales go through each of them a day then this will avoid the ssn# question?

Thing is you can't avoid it, I tried just doing $300/month...still limited...but like Aspkin said you have to deny, deny, deny, to give them your SS#...tell them you have been a victim of identity theft or something, but they will keep asking for it..

Best not to use PP at all..

Get yourself a long-distance plan, sign up for a Canadian dial-up and open a Canadian Paypal+eBay. No SSN in Canada and your US checking account works for a Canadian Paypal too.

Yes, no way around it.. I just recently lost a 2 yr old pp acct, as I insisted on not giving a ssn,, they responded back with.."we'd like to part company as easily as possible...."

stepijunk, if you dial long distance on modem it does something to make your connection crap like 14.4. I imagine international it could be worse. I think renting an IP address may be better if it's a clean IP that geotargets properly.

Hmm, I haven't tried to dial-up to Canada yet - just about to try it. 14.4kbps is definitively not good, but even this might be enough to open ebay/paypal and then you can use Auctiva or any other 3rd party manager to list items. It will take forever to withdraw funds from multiple Paypal accounts, though. How do you rent an IP address?

I forgot to mention, when I try dialup long distance it says "connected 54K" but then it runs like 14K. Line noise maybe.
