How do you deal with returns?

We all know we have no choice but to suck up to the buyer and accept a return. I have no problem with neither of these things as long as i do not receive negative feedback or a pp dispute. Now for all of us with numerous stealth accounts selling the same thing, it gets tricky.

For example: Lets say you have 4 stealth accounts, selling the same thing. Lets say that on each account you have about 1 buyer a week that wants to return the item. You don't want to send them your real return address through eb*y messages on all 4 accounts. Eb*y might catch on. That is a risk i am not willing to take. Im just wondering how you guys do it.

Aw, one of my favorite topics. Been a heap of threads over the years. I've quickly listed some of my fav's. The last one dated 2008 is a gem. Has a heap of info still fine for today.

Get creative in what you do. :juggle:
I have a different reachable and existing address for all of my accounts. Have from the start. Bit if you put them on a grid map, they are really close to each other :)

So I read the gem thread from 2008, Its saying use address that is not used yet close to your house? This will work?

GreenBean 09-15-2011 09:06 PM

Yep. Access to the address is the key :)

jeffweico 09-15-2011 09:32 PM

I always respond to return requests by telling them to mail the return to the return address on the package. Then I issue the refund.

Or just send them a prepaid label

How will that work? When someone lives there. Its not like there going to pick up the package for you.

Doesn't pp see when you change the return address to something else on the print label page?

MichaelW 09-16-2011 08:30 AM

I used www.usps.com to print the prepaid return label with my address on both.

Make customer happy cause they don't have to spend money for the postal also you will get your item back.

How did you send it? Via email? ive seen people do that before, not sure how they do it though.

MichaelW 09-16-2011 11:41 AM

Yes, send it via email

jeffweico 09-16-2011 12:26 PM

It prints out to a PDF file that can be emailed. If you do this, just be sure to use USPS/Stamps.com or Endicia rathder than going directly through eBay/PayPal/Amazon.

MichaelW 09-16-2011 01:13 PM

I just do it direct at www.usps.com

How do you print your labels? Directly through pp or usps?

Do you still get the tracking # discount as you would if you printed from pp?

madmuppet303 09-29-2011 10:39 PM

I used to use the usps website for labels but last time I used it all you could print was express mail and priority mail. I prefer to use first class and media mail since generally all of my shipping is free of charge for customers.
